Sometimes you have to get creative to get the goals that you want in life!🤣 But here's some truth in how Tico is trying to get out... Every day if we don't take him out for his grounding time, he will do this. However, he doesn't realize that, with his size, he could just push through our weakened screen door and get out whenever he wants. This is really similar to what many of us do with our health. We keep trying the same approach, hoping for a different outcome with our health. Ways that this might show up in your life... --> Trying different supplements over and over again, hoping the next one works but not really understanding why or what to do. ---> Continuing to research, hoping that you'll stumble on the next key insight but what ends up happening is you get overwhelmed and just stop taking action out of fear that you may end up doing more harm. We then continue down similar paths, repeating the cycle. One of the things I found to be the most helpful in my own health journey was to find mentors who had been there before me to help guide me with their wisdom and successful strategies. I thought I could do it all on my own. However, when I let go of this resistance and learned from people who had been through it but were now on the other side and could provide a success framework for how they do it, the game changed. I didn't have to keep trying to climb up the cliff (or screen door like in Tico's case) to achieve the health/results that I was hoping for but was always being blocked due to taking the harder path. 🌿✨ Healing happens in the present moment—not in the echoes of the past. If you find yourself dwelling on what was, gently redirect your focus to what is right now. I've been there personally...wondering if I did enough or why I did certain things with my previous pets. This is common for all of us, and you may have experienced it yourself or may be going through it right now. This moment holds the key to transformation and peace for you and your pet. When I realized that I was doing the best that I could in that situation, given my knowledge at the time, I couldn't do anything differently. Because I had a blind spot and felt love and grace for my past self for doing her best, I've been able to release so much guilt over feeling like I didn't do enough to fix my previous pets, like Finn. If you're reading this post, I know you're doing all you can to help your pets thrive, and I see you. Remember to honor your journey, love yourself for how you've shown up in the past, and continue to show up for yourself and your beautiful pets in the present moment. This guy loved fresh food diets! Finn was our soul pup, and I actually started him on kibble when we first got him, because I didn't know any better. However, as the years went on and his want for the kibble decreased but drive for real food increased, I woke up. Have you been told there's nothing else you can do for your pet's IBD? Or maybe that drugs and prescription diets are the only thing and holistic medicine doesn't work. I'll never forget my first call with Deanna about her Golden Retriever, Tucker, who was only 3 years old and had just been diagnosed with IBD. Her heart was broken, and Tucker felt so sick. Kiwi's always by my side...watching, observing, listening. She's my watch "dog" in the house. Why is this important? Because if I'm not managing my emotional health and stress levels well, she will be the first to let me know. How does this show up in Kiwi? She'll segregate herself from me first. Next, I see more lip licking...like she's experiencing acid reflux. Then she will vomit more and not seem to tolerate her food. What would I do as my past self? I'd reach for my slippery elm tincture from @animalessentials, add in a few drops of my CBD from @vet_cs, and add in some vitamin B12 from @thetwocrazycatladies. Here's the thing: I still do this, but what do I now do differently rather than just reaching for something to give? I journal. I reflect. I sit with my feelings to see where they are coming from and what needs to be let go. And I make sure that I'm taking care of myself with getting outside for my daily walk and fresh air, moving my body with running and shutting down work at a decent hour. Little Princess Tiffany, we love your sweet face! Tiffany was in to see Dr. Bross yesterday for her acupuncture and ozone treatments. Today she had those modalities combined with aqua-acupuncture. Dr. Bross ozonates fluids and then on specific acupuncture points, she does a tiny injection of the ozonated fluid, thus stimulating the acupuncture point as well as hydrating sweet Tiffany with ozone! Welcome to all of our new followers! Here's a little about who I am. I'm Dr. Katie Woodley, an expert holistic veterinarian, who's on a mission to make sure pet parents like you have treatment options for their pets. However, my passion for holistic medicine started long before The Natural Pet Doctor became an entity. My veterinary career started in the beautiful country of New Zealand. I was blessed to go to veterinary school in New Zealand and then fell in love with a Kiwi, no not the bird, which is why I stayed for a few more years to begin my veterinary career. The beautiful countryside, ocean, and mountains were a dream come true, and this is when I had my first taste for a more holistic lifestyle living in the country. However, I missed my family back home and we came back to continue life in Colorado. Six months after moving back, our lives changed. My husband developed an autoimmune disease, and this solidified my journey into holistic medicine. Doctor after doctor told us that food didn't matter, herbs wouldn't work and that he'd have to be on strong immuno-suppressive drugs for life, but as we continued to research on our own, we found that other people were having success with a more holistic lifestyle. Maybe you've been there with yourself or your pets? I started to wonder why I wasn't doing this for my patients. We weren't taught this type of medicine in veterinary school. However, I knew there had to be another way. As I delved deeper into researching holistic medicine for pets, I found that there was another way, and it provided a lot more options than just approaching health from a conventional perspective. Becoming certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine was a game-changer in helping pets feel their best. I integrate conventional medicine with a holistic approach to achieve better patient outcomes. The beautiful Freya was back in for a follow up visit and treatment last week. She is such a sweet girl and rests peacefully during her acupuncture sessions. Comet turned 5 years old and there's so much to celebrate here! Comet and his amazing dog mom, Noel, have been clients of mine for the past 3 years and it's been incredible to watch their transformation in our Healthy Holistic Pet for Life Blueprint program. When Noel first came to me, Comet's GI health was a mess. Any time he'd experience stress, he would get loose stool and diarrhea. She had tried all sorts of diets, supplements and it would work for a little and then things would get worse again. Over time, we've been able to dive deep with functional medicine tests to help uncover the root causes of why he was so sensitive. Through our program, Noel's been able to create more resilience and strength in his body so stress doesn't create GI upset. It's not just about the microbiome's health. Mr. Handsome Pants Waverly says hello and happy Sunday! He decided last week he would give a new modality a try! He got electro-acupuncture along with his plasma treatment! If you are wondering what on Earth that is, it is a tiny electric current that goes through the needles during acupuncture. It is similar to a tens unit or muscle stimulation unit in terms of the current and it helps to stimulate the acupuncture points being treated.
