Jaaaa, da ist er….! ✅ Der erste Heimsieg der Sparrows Geschichte ist in trockenen Tüchern. Am Sonntag gewannen unsere Sparrows ihr erstes Heimspiel mit 9:2 vor heimischer Kulisse. 🏆 Die Zuschauer sahen bei gutem Wetter ein sehr faires Spiel von beiden Seiten. 🏒 Unsere Torschützen waren 3x L.Werner, 2x D. Heissler, 2x M. Werner, M.Ferenz und B. Faber. Neben den Torschützen, konnte sich unser Goalie A. Storck einmal mehr durch mehrere Paraden auszeichnen. Insgesamt war das eine tolle Mannschaftsleistung von allen. 👍🥇 Im Anschluss an das Spiel, wurde der Grill angefeuert und wir haben den vormittag gemeinsam verbracht. 🍻🥩 Ein herzliches Dankeschön geht an die Huskies Schwetzingen, die den weiten Weg auf sich genommen haben. Of course name @sparrows_ff is heavily influenced by George Martin's Songs Of Ice and Fire (aka Game of Thrones)... Though it also has a great deal with the location where we practice (Sparrow Hills). But as some of you learned in the books, Sparrows cult was at first a shelter for those who lost everything in the war for Seven Kingdoms - rabble and commoners, but as it grew and gain strength knights and professional warriors joined it too. We had experienced here very similar arch... At first Sparrows were a team for players nobody wanted. But later on experienced players from tackle football took spots in our roster one by one... And it all started back in 2018 when @k0te22, who was captain, QB and Safety of @raiders52_afnn, came to play for us. Now we have a great mix of tackle stars and flag football only enthusiasts 🙏. Two years ago I recruited @nillaa33 for a beach flag football game... And since then we are keep on playing. He is already dominant player on defense. And on the 06.01.24 he made his debut as my center. You all know how I value this position. You have to be more than just a good players with safe hands. You have to be my comrade, my partner in crime. Andrew has got it all. Huge reach, big hands but the most importantly he always ready for a brawl. For the second season in the row I hit the benchmark of 123 flag football games as a player and coach. With 111 games of 2021 season it gives me 357 games in the three years span. In this period I haven't missed a game for my @sparrows_ff (I misses 6 snaps in total 🤦♂️on offense), I haven't missed a single game of my @lionesses_flag_football . Always there always for my partners, trying to win as many games as possible. Sometimes I feel like it's too much, like I don't want it anymore... And then ohh shit here we go again. I'm glad, that some serious ballers choose to play with me, it's flattering. I'm glad that some young players including my son care to listen to what I have to say. I'm glad I still make a dime to travel around the country (but not enough to go abroad). I'm glad that all my kids attend my games now, no matter how challenging it is for them and for me. I'm glad that my dear partner @invalidochka_ had the same attitude towards the game and gets better every tournament. You can keep your sanctions, bans and double standards. If you ask me which @sparrows_ff roster is my favorite - my answer always gonna be - THE CURRENT ROSTER! We always have dedicated ballers in our line up... That's how you get MVP award! At the Tula Bowl @invalidochka_ played 9 games. Every snap on O and D for our @lionesses_flag_football , most of the defensive snaps and at least half snaps on offense for @sparrows_ff and yet in the men/mix final she played crucial role in our win. Video 1 - she intercepts XP which could have given ZZombies late lead, thanks @max_effect_34 for tipping the ball. Video 2 - she makes a big catch which helped us burn the clock and gain the first down on the next play. Video 3 - she scores TD in overtime Video 4 - she seals the title with the INT on defense I can't remember any sparrow to score on D and O in the same overtime. Absolutely mind blowing! Here goes post number 2. For me National Championship was nothing but struggle. Out of rhythm, out of precision, out of ideas, out of luck. Some things worked and some things didn't. This time our running game and defence couldn't bail me out. I had low points in my flag football life, and this is definitely another one. But like my youngest son Aaron says: "Tomorrow is a new day". I trust him on that one. Last year winning felt like loosing. I felt broken and disturbed. This year despite loosing - I feel way better. Thanks for that to my teammates and people who care! I glad and proud that in the huddle after the games was only one message - keep going, keep ballin'!
