Our Artist of the Day is @hennybelit . Unako Chabedi professionally known as 'Hennybelit' is a songwriter/rapper/record producer and all round musician hailing from East London, Eastern Cape. He made a name of himself in his hometown for being one of thee most innovative and versatile artists to rap and compose in isiXhosa and further making waves on SoundCloud. Creating a sound which he describes as Xhosa Punk (x-punk), a hybrid of xhosa and hip hop music. Around this time he had caught the attention of artists Anatii and Yanga Chief who he had already looked up too. He later made his way to Johannesburg to pursue his music career. In early 2022 the 'Mabida' snippet made waves on TikTok receiving over 20M+ views under the madibachallenge hashtag to date. Additionally the song receiving over a million streams across all major streaming platforms. In November 2022 we would see Hennybelit release his debut EP including the hit single 'Madiba' and 'Uthando' featuring Dinky Kunene. This cemented his name within the industry as he showcased his musical capabilities met with solid production. He continued to feature on the established SAMA award winning artist Yanga Chief's song 'Benjamins' which also featured the hitmaker Emtee. His success continued with him performing at the hottest youth festival in South Africa the Cotton Fest in Johannesburg earlier this year. Recently on the 28th of July he gave birth to the EP titled "Sun Of The Soil" Including stand out tracks like 'Isezocaca' and 'Izolo. Features on this body of work include @sinomsolo , @shakesxles_official to name a few. A versatile artist catering amapiano , hip hop, and RnB.
