What happens when our keiki inevitably play too hard and end up hurt? 🤔 Follow these steps below when their teeth are involved: 🦷 Assess if they need medical attention (loss of consciousness, vomiting, need stitches etc), if so take them to the ER first. 🦷If they get a cut or bite on their tongue, lip or cheek and there is bleeding: apply gentle and firm pressure with a clean gauze or cloth. If bleeding persists after 15 minutes or cannot be controlled with pressure, take them to the ER. 🦷If a baby tooth is knocked out, do not try to re-implant the tooth. Apply gentle pressure to stop any bleeding and give us a call. 🦷If a permanent tooth is knocked out, find the tooth, do not handle the tooth by the root portion. Rinse the tooth and try to reinsert it in the socket and have your child bite down on a clean gauze or cloth. If you cannot reinsert the tooth, put in a cup of milk or a cup of the child’s saliva. Call us IMMEDIATELY. Time is critical. 🦷If a tooth is broken into pieces, locate as many pieces as you can find and call us.
