ON THIS DATE - March 19th, 1954. Kenny Wharram scored his 1st NHL goal at the Chicago Stadium. Chicago Black Hawks defeated the Boston Bruins 7-0. Wharram scored at 13:26 of the 1st period to put the Hawks ahead 3-0, assisted by his former Galt Black Hawks teammate, Jack Price against 'Sugar Jim' Henry. Al Rollins recorded one of his 28 career shutouts. Wharram also had 4 assists in the game. Assisting on all 3 goals by Pete Conacher, his only NHL hat trick. Wharram also assisted on a goal by Jack Price. Larry Wilson and Jack McIntyre had the other Chicago goals. Kenny Wharram was a part of the 1960-61 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Black Hawks. He was twice named to the first team all-stars and was awarded the Lady Byng Trophy in 1963-64. Kenny Wharram was called up for good by the Balck Hawks for the 1958-59 NHL regular season. He had scored 20+ goals in 7 straight seasons when he was forced to retire due to myocarditis during the 1969-70 training camp. The Scooter Line with Wharram and Mikita playing alongside Ted Lindsay, Ab McDonald, or Doug Mohns was a highly skilled, successful line in the NHL for many years. Glenn Hall assisted on the Pilote goal. * Glenn Hall made his NHL debut on Dec. 27th, 1952 at Montreal Forum. Hall was starting for injured starting goalie Terry Sawchuk. Detroit tied the Canadiens 2-2. Doug Harvey scored the 1st goal against Mr. Goalie. * Born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan on Oct. 3rd, 1931 (91 years young), Hall was elected into the @thehockeyhalloffame in 1975. This was the 1st NHL goal allowed by Bernie Parent, assisted by Dennis Hull & Pierre Pilotte. * Ron Stewart scored on the power play for Boston in the 2nd period to tie the game. * Doug Mohns scored 14 seconds into the 3rd giving the Hawks a 2-1 lead. Murray Oliver scored for Boston 52 seconds into the 3rd to tie the game 2-2. * Bernie Parent would register a tie game in his NHL debut vs Glenn Hall and the Hawks. Chicago outshot the Bruins 44-30. * Kenny Wharram lead the Hawks with 6 shots on goal.
