Her work consists of oil, acrylic, and mixed media paintings. Marianna creates her mixed media work by combining collected ephemera, some passed onto her from her family, and others found in magazines and books. The central ideas Marianna composes in her work is the fragile nature of living in the U.S. as a Mexican American. Born in El Paso, but having lived in Milwaukee, South Florida, San Francisco, and now Boise for 14 years, Marianna conveys the delicate nature of living in two different worlds. Her method is to present the impact of being separated from one’s culture and its effect on being seen as Mexican in American spaces.
