In July or August of 2023, I alluded I was becoming a Notary Public. I had all of the paperwork, I had my seal (I still have my seal). I went to the Official Documents Office to find out that there was a typo in my name on my birth certificate. My last name was registered as Mc Laren (no, my parents did not make this typo); a difference no one has noticed in my entire life (until last summer). Turns out the LSO takes your name from your birth certificate and you can't be a Notary without your name being identical (and I wasn't going with the aka option, Mc Laren aka McLaren...nope). 3 attempts to fix my birth certificate, the provincial government not being inclined to help quickly, my last name is finally legally McLaren and I am finally allowed to announce that I am a Notary Public.
