Now that the pageant is over and I've had time to reflect, I wanted to say thank you. MISS RHODE ISLAND TEEN USA 2024 IS CARISSA TILLINGHAST! 🇺🇸✨ Carissa is 19 years old from Warwick, RI. An alumna of Pilgrim High School, she is now a student at the University of Rhode Island with the hopes of becoming an L&D Nurse practitioner. Prior to winning the crown, Carissa placed 1st runner up in 2021 and a semifinalist in 2022. After competing in the USA system, she tried her luck in the Volunteer system and was named the first ever Miss Rhode Island Teen Volunteer and competed for the Miss Teen Volunteer America pageant in Tennessee. Now, she earned the rights to compete at the Miss Teen USA pageant in Hollywood this August. 💫 Rhode Island holds a record of only 7 placements at the Miss Teen USA competition with only a Top 10 semifinals placement as its highest place. Dear Everyone, Sunday was the final day of the Miss Rhode Island | Teen USA pageant. Though I was not chosen to place or as a titleholder, that does not mean anything negative. I MADE IT to one of the biggest pageants ever. I got to represent my city diligently as well as my name. A year ago around this time, I would’ve never thought of this happening, I would’ve laughed at you if you told me future me was dancing and strutting my stuff on stage in front of 900+ people, and judges. I am so incredibly proud of myself for where I am now, how confident I am and how much I’ve changed and diminished my anxiety. Me not placing, 100% does NOT discourage me whatsoever. I want to make it clear, I WILL BE BACK, at Miss RI Teen USA 2025, and I WILL compete every year until I am your titleholder, even if it’s as Miss Rhode Island USA, as I age out in 3 years. I am unstoppable, and no one and their words will ever make me change my mind. To Myasia, Mom & Dad, Thank you for supporting me through it all. Thank you for reminding me I’m beautiful and helping me with the process. Thank you for being in the audience and screaming my name when I came on stage. Thank you, I love yous endlessly. Road to Miss RI Teen USA - Today marks a month until the final crowning for Miss RI Teen USA 2024!!! I am so excited and nervous to keep continuing this journey, I can’t wait for all of the new friends and connections! I wanted to share a little bit more about my journey, and why I am choosing this path. As I have shared, I am trying to advocate for plus-size girls in this industry. There is usually never a plus-size winner, and I want to be the first to change this history and help lift these standards. EVERYONE, no matter their size or appearance, is beautiful. There is always room for improvement, and I want to use my voice and platform to keep these kinds of things going, changing the world little by little and helping everyone feel their true beauty. I would also like to say that I can admit I have not been very active charity wise - I am opening myself to finding organizations and things I can help out/connect with! I am hoping to become a Big Sister once I am of age and for the requirements, as I love to mentor and lead. I have always been one to give back to those who need it, and over the last year I have truly been trying to be that person who can help anyone in need. I hate seeing another individual sad or not doing well, it makes me want to help them get to where they need to be and see them happy. I want to once again thank everyone for following me on this journey.
