Build process pics of the latest batch of celtic mandolins. These 3 orders are different from each other. 2 are 14" scale and one is a 14.5", all tuned GDAE. The necks are rough, and laminated 2-piece affairs in mahogany, walnut and maple. Tops are joined and thicknessed, and rosettes are inlaid in alternating wood tiles, with one in abalone. Cedar, sitka and torrified sitka are the top species used. I join the tops using rope and wedges, as I have always done, and is an old technique. The backs show the body woods of katalox, flamed walnut and amazon rosewood. One photo shows glueing on the center seam reinforcement on the interior of the backs using a 'go-bar' press and cedar go bars.

It’s finally summer! "Summer" from "The Four Seasons" guitar quartet, John Monteleone, Islip, New York, 2004 @metmuseum The "Four Seasons" guitars are a complete musical ensemble conceived and built by John Monteleone between 2002 and 2006. Each instrument is a beautiful sounding guitar with its own individual voice that also functions musically with the other members of the ensemble. The top of Summer is carved out of two pieces of bookmatched spruce and the back is from two pieces of curly maple. The body has a yellow to red sunburst nitrocellulose finish. The bass side of the guitar has a scroll, like those found on some members of the mandolin family (and perhaps reminiscent of Monteleone's own history as a maker of fine mandolins). The "Summer" guitar has an eighteen inch wide body and a large central oval sound hole descending from the bass side to the treble. The bass side rib, which faces the player, has two elliptical sound holes that give the musician a better sound experience while playing.
