Fostering mice: Day 29 Babies are 22-days old I usually mute the sound due to background noise, but here it is, that charming sound of rustling skittering that means you have mice or any other small burrowing pet. The pups are able to chew through hay and cardboard now, and are basically functioning like little mice. Adorable little mice with tiny twitching whiskers and delicate paper-thin ears. Now that they're a good size and nearly ready to go off on their own, I'm not ashamed to admit how relieved I am that all 11 babies have made it this far. This was my first time with a pregnant pet and my first time raising newborn pets. So many things could have gone wrong (like, mom eating the babies. Mom rejecting the babies. Babies just failing to thrive), but they made it, and all the mice are doing so well. Yennifer has been a great mom. Cirilla has been a great nanny. The pups all seem well and healthy. Woo-hoo! The next phase of their lives is right around the corner. Yennifer, Cirilla, and 10 of the pups are available for adoption. They'll be ready to go when the pups are around 4-weeks old. Generally, males should be housed alone and females like to be housed together.
