Oscar Perez was selected by Automotive Collision Advisory Board as the first recipient of the “The Skyê’s the Limit” Memorial Scholarship. Oscar is a second year student in Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing. He will be heading to Washington state this summer to participate in the Boeing internship program and recently earned 1st place at SkillsUSA State Contest. The scholarship was established in memory of Skyê Charlton, graduate from the Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing program at Moore Norman Technology Center. The $250 scholarship funds can be used to purchase tools, certifications, or for other academic purposes. Post graduation, Skyê was diagnosed with stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. After an 18 month battle, Skyê passed away on August 17, 2023. She is fondly remembered for her love of art, antique trucks, classic hot rods, and music. Her legacy will continue to support MNTC students through this scholarship. Harnessing the power of both visual communication and dynamic storytelling, Abrielle Pham has walked the halls of Moore Norman Technology Center, to complete not one, but two programs. Completing both Digital Cinema and Television Production (DCTP) and Graphic Design at MNTC, Abrielle helped to accomplish her personal career goals: a flourishing career in Marketing and Advertising. While at Moore Norman, Abrielle was also a part of the Careertech Student Organization - SkillsUSA. She was not only focused on gaining technical skills but also honing soft skills, leadership abilities, and teamwork. She competed for the MNTC SkillsUSA team at various levels and held both the position of President and Reporter. “The categories I competed in were life-long skills that I have continued to grow in every day. MNTC Engineering students from two teams competed in OSU Speedfest in Stillwater, Oklahoma. 🏁 #OSUSpeedfest is a radio-controlled airplane pylon race competition where India class (middle school, junior high, and high school Invited teams) build, test, and compete with a kit airplane to complete as many laps as possible down a 400ft flight path in 2 minutes. 📹 Created a video introduction to their teams 💸 Opportunity to secure a $2000 scholarship to OSU College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology. 3️⃣ Teams competed in three rounds of flights. The MNTC Engineering team from @gonormantigers Norman High School, Lead Balloons Team 35, were able to score 25 total points (12.5 full laps) in the last 2 minute round, winning the flag score competition for the day against 47 total team race entries. Two Moore Norman Technology Center Surgical Technology students were recently honored with the Jamie M. Rogers Memorial Scholarship. Amanda Goodlin and Sophie Shawareb each received $500 which may be used at their discretion. 😁 Parents of the late Jamie M. Rogers, Mike and Nancy Rogers, along with Surgical Technology Instructors Julie Pennington and Fallon Hammond, made the scholarship announcement during their class. After graduation, Amanda plans to work as a travel surgical technologist and engage in mission work abroad. Sophie has a passion for helping others and aims to further her education by becoming a Certified First Assist. Jamie’s parents shared professional advice and stories about how she lived. She loved the medical profession and working as a surgical technologist. She served as a Surgical Technologist in 8,613 medical procedures and was a highly-valued employee of Dean McGee for the last eight years of her life. MNTC Biomedical Science students attended the 25th annual Oklahoma Research Day (ORD) at the @ucobronchos University of Central Oklahoma. This is a statewide research conference showcasing undergraduate and graduate student research projects. The event featured ✍️ resume workshops and a 🔬 research fair across multiple disciplines.Students received inspiration as they prepare for their Biomedical Science Capstone project later this spring. 16th Annual Red Carpet Film Festival set for Tuesday, May 14, 2024.🗓️ 🎬 The Red Carpet Film Festival is an annual event organized by MNTC's Digital Cinema & TV Production and Graphic Design classes. Created in 2008, this event provides a way for students to experience deeper learning while working on extensive, industry-level projects in a collaborative environment. Students from both programs are empowered to create complex projects that they see through from concept to distribution. The Winchester Drive-In 🚘 located in south Oklahoma City is the venue for the event. Though all movies are intended for a wide audience, the genres represented included documentary, comedy, drama and many more. Jordan Yanch moved with her family from Canada to Oklahoma in 2015. She currently works part-time as a paramedic for the OKC 911 system, and full-time in Nuclear Medicine stress testing across the entire United States.
