These antlers were cut off 3 inches above the burrs. Taxidermist Tim Barnes of Frontier Shop Taxidermy (frontiershoptaxidermy.com) sculpted the missing sections of the main beam, blended to the existing deer rack, and then used our Velvet Base™ and Velvet Kit to replicate the antlers’ velvet. While the Fiber-Tac™ is still wet, apply the shorter length Velvet Fiber from the antler’s tips to the base, gradually reducing the amount toward the base. Newsome Taxidermy had velvet that came in badly damaged. However, after power washing it, adding a base coat with our Velvet Base™ and putting the velvet back with our Static King® and Velvet Kit, these antlers are as a good as new. “Turned out awesome,” Newsome Taxidermy commented on their post.
