More Moroccan magic! Today we traveled to Caravan Agafay-an immersive experience in the Moroccan desert set among rocky dunes. This nomadic home base connected us to Berber traditions and locally-inspired rituals. The camel trekking and sunset over the the Atlas Mountains was an unforgettable moment in time!
Days at Dar Ahlam are created around completely personalized adventures with your dedicated local guide. Today we biked around villages and explored among the olive trees, pomegranate trees and a nearby palmeraie. We had lunch in a local home exploring their garden and farm and at the end of our day drove into the vast rock desert to have cocktails at sunset. At Dar Ahlam there are always elements of surprise and a story is told through each experience. The goal is for their guests to leave Dar Ahlam with memories more beautiful than dreams. 🇲🇽Mexico City’s colorful Merced Market is a traditional public market located in the eastern edge of the historic center of Mexico City and is the largest retail traditional food market in the entire city. This is best explored with a guide because this place is a literal maze!! It’s a true cultural experience, and your guide will know how to lead you through and help you experience some of the best vendors as well as put names to many of the unfamiliar wonders that span for acres and acres!! Who invented the Margarita?! According to one legend, Pancho Morales was working in Juarez, Mexico, in 1942, when a woman ordered a “magnolia.” Morales could not remember any of the ingredients in the drink except for Cointreau. 🎭Who doesn’t love a cultural food celebration day?! Paczki Day, Fat Tuesday, Pancake Day, Carnivale: We've been training for you! 🍩This cultural food event with its roots in Catholicism was created as a way to use up all the available sugar, eggs, butter, lard and other goodness before Lent, during which many give up an indulgence for 40 days. 🥞Pancake Day, or shrove Tuesday, is a celebrated in English speaking countries like the UK, Ireland, Australia and Canada. 🍩 Paczki, a deep-fried, yeast-based, stuffed doughnut, originated in Poland as a way to use up butter, eggs and other ingredients that were off-limits during Lenten fasting. Polish immigrants have brought this celebration to many cities in the US with Polish heritage. In Poland, Paczki are traditionally made on Thursday before Ash Wednesday, but many Polish Americans have combined the festivities with Mardi Gras on Tuesday! Have a sweet day!!

A Saturday morning ITALIAN caffe sospeso act of kindness seems like a good idea wherever you may be! Have you heard of the tradition of suspended coffee? Caffe sospeso, originated in Naples, is a simple Roman tradition: a customer pays for an extra coffee, to be claimed later by someone who can’t afford a cup. That person simply approaches the coffee seller, and asks if they have “sospeso” available. If it is, it’s poured without charge. Do you think this is an Italian tradition worth spreading around? More kindness, always. ❤️

Did you know if it wasn’t for women tequila might not even exist?! Historically, the women of tequila (the town in Jalisco where tequila was born) have been the ones who cultivated the blue agave plants.
