Our Return to Cruising - Day 10 DESTINATION: Caribbean Sea - another sea day. SO SAD: The last full day of a cruise is the only day you see sad faces onboard. Everyone has problems in life. Cruise ship music tunes them out. So why are we disembarking tomorrow? CUBA: At sea today. We awoke to Cuba off the port side. The Captain sailed calmly up Cuba’s northern coast. Anyone else have a sudden urge for a Cubano? Or two? Kre8: Kevin Vigil is an artist, a painter. He signs his art, Kre8. First he paints a black-and-gray image and then adds colorful abstraction. We first saw his work two years ago and said, “meh”. Today, Cathy turned Meh into Mine! ROCK OPERA: We took in the theater production of Rock Opera. This was a high-energy eccentric and iconic rock journey with Max Himmelreich, Nick Petris and other talented Princess performers including an 7-piece live orchestra - they were all spot on. I was worried it would suck as I heard this was a show about puns. Who would enjoy a play on words? NORTH OR SOUTH: Over heard conversation in Crooners. Not unusual for people to ask where others are from. When asked, an Asian gentlemen replied, “Korea”. Conversation should’ve ended there. Nope. He was then asked “North or South”? LOL, dude! He didn’t say he was from “Carolina”…. Kor-eee-uh… Hilarious! Bingo, photo studio, dinner, drinking, casino, and packing to go home- these activities also filled our day. Tomorrow is it, back to Port Everglades, Ft. Lauderdale and then drive home. Our Return to Cruising - Day 4 DESTINATION: St. Thomas, US VI OUCH: On Monday’s I shave my head. Today, years of incident free shaving came to an end. The top of my left ear jumped up and into my razor. Now I know ears bleed like a Hawaiian waterfall. TIJANA LOVES ME: As the Enchanted Princess eased into port we enjoyed breakfast. Tijana, our awesome waitress from Serbia, learned Saturday I like bacon. She brought me 12 strips of bacon with my single fried egg. Tijana cares! ANN DEALS: The ship tied up to the Havensight dock. Perfect position for us to hop into the belly of the tourist shopping and get that done. New shirts are coming home with each of us. Ann the deal maker negotiated hard and scored a pair Larimar ear rings too. MOUNTAIN TOP: An open air bus took us to the highest point of St. Thomas called, Mountain Top. Here we enjoyed stunning panoramic views of Magens Bay, St. John and the British Virgin Islands. We can validate their claim of serving a World Famous Banana Daiquiri; given more time I’d have drank 2 or 7 more. But even having just 1 made this majestic stop rewarding. PLANTS AND CREATURES: Our 2d of 2 stops was the Plantation Crown & Hawk Botanical Garden. Exploring this rain forest tropical garden required walking in a 5+ acre plant maze. This place features wonderful sky deck views, an abundant garden filled with species after species of tropical plants. Peacocks and red footed tortoise live here too. Like plants? Come here! EVENING NOSH & SIPS: Cathy and I dined on sushi at The Ocean Terrace Seafood Bar. Superb rolls and generous sashimi. The Torched Sushi is a culinary treat. Princess cruise ships are the only place I’ve had Torched Sushi. Perhaps back home I should stop eating gas station sushi. Switched it up some and sipped on a Rob Roy at Crooners. A good choice while enjoying Trevor Cole work the Steel Pan. I switched back to Talisker, neat, for the Zinger Duo and crooner Nick Petris.
