25 years ago today, I was published in the @latimes magazine, not for whiskey, but for PEZ candy dispenser collecting. A true #throwbackthursday ------------------------------------------------------- PEZ collecting was my original obsessive hobby. However, I learned valuable entrepreneurial skills through buying, selling, and trading PEZ all over the country, for more than a decade. A few years after I wrote this article I made national news again, right before my high school graduation. I was the first and only person to ever face criminal charges for selling a PEZ dispenser (without a license). Luckily, after a few years of probation in Missouri, I was able to look back and laugh. Even funnier, there is currently a documentary on Netflix "The Pez Outlaw" featuring fellow collector @pezoutlaw ------------------------------------------------------- Last year, I took my PEZ collection (thousands of dispensers) from my parent's basement, and attended one last convention in Cleveland, after over a decade out of the game. This was pretty much a goodbye to the hobby, and a way to earn some money for future endeavors. I can't help but reminisce on so many fond coming-of-age PEZ-induced experiences before I matriculated. I had the joy to meet John CoolPezMan Devlin in 2003 at the 11th annual Pez Convention in St. Louis! My husband surprised me with this trip as a Christmas gift. Ben proposed to me by putting the ring inside this giant flashlight Pez so the diamond shone bright! Saturday is the big day at any PEZ Convention, especially at PEZAMANIA. It is the day where all of the dealers come together and sell PEZ dispensers, PEZ items, anything PEZ all in one room. The Saturday shows is also for anyone who hasn't registered to attend the PEZ convention. All PEZ collectors are welcome to join in the fun. There is so much PEZ to shop, just look at, and many PEZ collectors you can talk to. It is probably my favorite day of any PEZ Convention, not just PEZAMANIA.
