(use my 20% discount code JAMESMTLEDC) As I received these yesterday, my review is somewhat limited however I'll do my best to be thorough and I'll be sure to post other reviews along the way. Both are angled lights running 18350 batteries and there's a built in waterproof USB-C port. ⚪White Nichia 519AT (warm white) ⚫Black Nichia 519C (cool white) Modes are -moon 1 lumen -low 15 lumens -med 50 lumens -high 250 lumens -Turbo 800 lumens for 1 minute then it steps down to 300 lumens. I find the spacing is a little odd, there isn't a big enough difference between low and med and too much of a difference between med and high. GOOD NEWS the levels are programmable! I haven't tried it yet but I will. The UI is intuitive. Turn the light on, double tap for turbo. If you double tap while the light is off it activates the strobe, if you double tap again you get SOS. I think the way they hid these options is very clever. There's a lot of contention among flashlight enthusiasts if strobe/sos belong on a light. I'm ok with it as long as I'm not forced to cycle through it. Design: I think it looks really cool. It's a little bulky for pocket carry. I would definitely have this on a backpack though. I REALLY like the 6 milled slots around the light. I could definitely see people adding tritium in there. The light would look so good. The one thing that surprised me was that the battery (1100mAh, 3.7v) isn't user replaceable. I would have liked to be able to pop in a fresh battery on the fly. The beam pattern is very usable. There's a defined hotspot with a good amount of spill. So far I'm impressed with the light and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for something different. Good news! The same, but different. Rexford RUT V4 & V5 NGMCo Side Piece and FAFO. I'm torn between the aesthetics of the V4 and the better ergonomics of the V5. I've had the V4 for years and it works brilliantly. The added notch on the V5 inspires confidence in hand. I find it got a little too squiggly with this update though. I do also prefer a Plain Jane version but that's immaterial here. The Side Piece (SP) and FAFO are two awesome pieces. The FAFO feels heftier in hand and more solid. It feels like an actual tool. The SP is lighter and looks more like functional art to me. I prefer the SP for its weight and refined look. Lastly I added the carry that I chose for today. Felt like a traditional lockback kind of day. Snagged this Buck 110 back at the end of 2021, just to have one in the collection. Was disappointed that it had a super uneven secondary grind side-to-side from the factory, so up until recently it just lived in my case. Threw it in my back pocket about a week ago, and after that week, I think I "get it". It's not a fidgety modern 1-hand-opener (a fact I was reminded of when I attempted a one-hand open and it swung closed on my fingertip and bit me pretty good), but there's just something extremely appealing about how unapologetically solid it feels. It's no tri-ad lock, but the back lock feels more than strong enough for day-to-day use, and the heft and density of the brass bolsters is a nice change from G10 and micarta. I do need to find a good clip slip or something for it though. Too much of a thicc boi for any of my pocket organizers, and after that first bite, I'd prefer to have it somewhere that I don't need to worry about it potentially notching other digits, because that factory edge is SHARP! Couple changes to existing gear: First, I've been experimenting with different carry options for my Heartless Forge Toothpick, most recently using a cheap elastic mag carrier. Added the paracord wrap to try and get better friction retention in the mag carrier, while still being easily removable. It works OK, but still room for improvement. Second, I finally got all the parts to do the wide-angle TIR conversions on my 1800K FC40 KR1. Still a couple minor tweaks needed, like sanding down the glow ring by ~0.25mm so the bezel screws down completely, but it's transformed into the floody pocket sun I always imagined it could be!
