B L E N D E D 🩶 my guest today has been trying to grow out her grey and I FORCED her to go without dying it or I wouldn’t do it. She wanted to chop it off and really embark on the low maintenance life of leaving the greys and embracing them but in STYLE. I did a full foil, alternating between 3 formulas and this allowed me to have the most blending and sal and pepper vibe as possible. F U L L M E T A L M O M M A 🖤🤘🏻🎸 The holidays are upon us and the iconic looks are here. I utilized my favorite lightener PLUL and 20 volume to retouch her overgrown root and rebrighten her ends. It lightened up to a level 10 and since my client wanted her hair to be as white as possible we were in the right spot. I formulated a root tap and a toner formula for her that I could also utilize on her extensions for the lightest white blonde possible. I also dyed a couple of her extensions black utilizing hydragloss and the final look was done. She was giving me very Lady GaGa “Born this Way” Era or Modern “Cruella” vibes. W I C K E D W A V E S 💚 It’s my guest’s birthday today and she wanted something NEW and FRESH that would make her feel herself on her day. She had old permanent red in her hair and old dark brown… so to get it to lighten would be a task… but we had to try! It’s DIRTY THIRTY and we had to make it count! I utilized my favorite lightener PLUL and 20 volume to add some balayage highlights in. It lightened up at a level 8/9 in various parts of the head.. S W E E T n’ S P O O K Y 👻 Pastel Halloween is here guysssss! My guest today had a little overgrown regrowth and some really over toned ends. She had been using purple shampoos and tinted masks to keep it fresh.. but it was just a little too all over the place for her and it was time for a revamp. I did a FULL highlight to help break up the line of demarcation and help her feel like a BRAND new 🐝. I then TAP rooted her utilizing express tones to help blend and match as closely to her natural color and keep as possible and extend the time before she needed to retouch again ♥️ I THEN (after our consult) formulated SOFT and pastel versions of various colors for her to have this really beautiful opalescent color effect. With her existing color I told her we would have to see what her hair can actually do. to MY SURPRISE her hair released that other color pretty well and actually let me do what I wanted. M O O D Y M A U V E 🩶💜 My client loves to change her look up pretty often, BUT she likes to change it to things that will fade as beautifully as the color was while it was fresh. we gravitate toward light pinks, corals, violets and bluish silver tones that will evidently fade and allow us to over lay a new color. I lighten her hair using the best lightener @pravana PURE LIGHT ULTRA LIGHTENER & 10 volume on her natural level 8 hair. I also lightly shampoo capped her overly ashy ends at the bowl to give us a fresh start again. She’s also rocking some extensions now so she wanted to bring those in and see if we could color match them to her final tone. W I C K E D 🗡️ So… my client had definitely had her regrowth grow out a bit and the color faded a lot… So yeah it was time for her to come back in. This time we opted for a wicked green pallet with hues of emerald and lime to envoke all the evil and villainous ways. I sprayed her hair with the @pravana Purify & Revive Prime spray to avoid any chemical reactions I retouched her root and actually added in new sections of highlight to add more color to the look. Once lifted to an 8/9 I washed her hair out and prepped her for vivids where I formulated to dastardly shades of green for her. We wanted BRIGHT but also not LIGHT. Does that make sense? 😜 In the end… we got the badass hair we wanted and she got back to feeling like herself again. B L U E M O O N 🌙 My guest booked her appointment… and when she walked in I was like 👀. Her hair was short and also a different color then I remember last seeing her. She confessed she had gone elsewhere and didn’t like it and since then dyed her hair with a box.. So she’s back today to try and fix it up 😅. I prepped her hair, using purifying revive prime spray to read her hair of any minerals or gunk that could cause her to have a chemical reaction and hit her with the GOAT lightener (for me) @PRAVANA PLUL. Under the box color came a pinky color and some old brown… while her roots lifted to a pretty even level 8. M A R S H M A L L O W 🧁 my guest is a mommy now which means… she literally has no time for herself. BUT she MAKES time to come in for her retouched EVERY 6weeks on the dot. Its that important and she makes the time (so so can you 😉) -SIDE NOTE- She’s been a blonde for YEARS. This isn’t something that happened overnight. She’s been a loyal platinum blonde for many many moons I lighten her hair using the best lightener @pravana PURE LIGHT ULTRA LIGHTENER & 20 volume for a full 50 mins and get her ready to tone. I used the ONE WASH WONDER {PRAVANA’s PERFECT BLONDE SHAMPOO) which is created with chamomile, coconut oil and lavender to help keep my clients hair soft while I prep and pretone her for her color application. This is ideal for at home care so it maintains our blonde color while treating it all at the same time. I chose to use CHROMASILK and deposit a little stronger amount of pigment in her hair because her toner was looking a little washed out when she was coming back. I also added a DROP of VIVIDS EVERLASTING in her formula to act as a BOOSTER to kill any residual warmth in her hair. Ü R S U L A 🐙🐚🧜🏻♀️ well… LET ME START OFF BY SAYING.. I had nothing to do when it came down for the planning of this look, my client picked it all on her own. It’s no secret that my FAVORITE movie is Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” and with the new live action coming out in a couple months, I have been checking on the daily for when tickets go on sale. We lightened out her over grown root from a long time ago that we lightened and colored her hair.. and did a face frame in foil to get that perimeter as bright and white as possible. Utilizing my favorite lightener of @PRAVANA pure light ultra lightener and 20 volume in foil and out, I let the lightener process for a full 45 mins and we washed and prepped her hair for her vivids service. She gave me free reign as to placement and color pallet, but wanted a SEA WITCH inspired look that would get those heads turning her way as she walk down that carpet copping her diploma this coming may. I custom formulated 4 different colors for the look today and we placed them according to the vibe we wanted. Everytime she’s come in for this look, we have switched up the look. Initially going deep and vibrant, then to bright and light and now to pretty pastels. I mimicked the original placement we did (a couple posts lower) but also shifted the pigments a little bit if it had faded enough to change up where I put other colors. Using the hair as a roadmap if you will. It’s giving me bubbles, cotton candy, unicorn hair… and I love it. We all know that I can do big, bright and bold, but did you know that with vivid, you can also keep it toned down, subtle, or small and just as satisfying? I thought this was a great chance to show you how a couple of highlights and vivids can give you a look you can have fun with and with little maintenance! I did a full head of highlights using @PRAVANA pure light ultra lightener on my clients hair to bring that lightness within her hair but i sectioned out the crown and left a veil to eliminate the need of immediate root retouch as well as to give her the ability to “HIDE” the bursts of color when she needed to. Once the highlights were in, I mixed up various vivid shades (on a darker spectrum) so when overlaying color we can give her a lot of different shades that will give her hair a beautiful “oil slick” like effect in her hair. After we were all done I threw a wave in the hair, tied a little bow and sent her little butt out the door to go and conquer the world! I loved it and it was a refreshing take on a colorful look. GRINCH 🎅🏻💚 My client today LOVE HER GREEN.. and we did a split dye last time, but she said she wasn’t really feeling herself. So she wanted to change it up. She wanted to try an all over color but something she hasn’t done yet. So she showed me an olive green tone that reminded me of money and even a grinchy like hue. -𝗬𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻- I retouched her too and then removed her previous color and I tried to even out the toned as much as possible. I was able to remove a lot of it! I custom mixed my own version of an olive tone and showed her the entire step of the way. I used various contrasting tones in my formula to give me a more dim and Smokey color. Use colors opposite from each other on the colorwheel together can be scary, BUT when looking for a deep and dim color.. it’s one of the easiest ways to create unconventional colors or even just knowing this tip will help make you a strong colorist!! You have to know the rules to be able to break them! In the end… I was actually living for this color! She looked so pretty! V E N O M O U S 🐍 🎃 I hadn’t done my clients hair in 6 months! She had mega root grow out, and a lot of fading but it was time to get her right before Halloween was here! She loves GREEN. Like…LOVES it. she couldn’t really decide if she wanted to stay light or dark, so I had suggested BOTH. I retouched her new growth using @pravana Pure Light Ultra lightener & 20 Volume for a total of 45 mins and Pure Light Power lightener & Zero Lift on the right sides mids and ends for the remaining 15 mins. Over the years I’ve evolved and she always swore one day I would do her hair the way she saw in the magazines. Cut to modern day, she has a substantial amount of grey hair (80-100%) and she had been using box dye in every shade and flavor under the sun since only god remembers. She’s over doing that and really wanted to start fresh, but still wanted to have fun with it. Me being me, I gave her the whole SCHPEEL of “ YoU CanT bEcAuSe itS YeARs of BoX dYEs aND iTs nOt GoNnA COme oUT”, but I said I would try and I would see what could be done. I used @pravana pure light ultra lightener and started with zero lift developer in the nape of the neck and did small batches of lightener to keep it fresh. I did a platinum card technique (but laid my foils FLAT NOT FOLDED). I proceeded around the entire head raising the strength of the lightener until ultimately ending in the front and finishing off with 30 volume. We processed for a total of 2 hours… removing foils and lightener as we saw fit. But we were able to do it! I lifted her up to a nice level 9. So on damp hair, i sectioned off a halo section of hair and I mixed PRAVANA’s new Blonding Crème and 10 volume and processed for an additional 20 mins until we achieved the right lift. Due to the different levels of lift and how she wanted to have fun. We decided to color the undersection a fun color and leave the top our light and bright shade.
