On the last working day of 2023, we take this opportunity to count our blessings and make an announcement. Despite challenging economic conditions, 2023 has been AWESOME as we continue to receive support from all of our customers (both new and existing) that kept us busy for the entire year; not to mention new collaborations that blessed us with business opportunities and friendships. Fun day at @mtr.performance Track Day The supra project, in collaboration with @tengkudjanley and @tdracingmy on its second Sepang outing; the first outing bone stock clocking 2 min 30.743 on a night session on 19 July 2023. After completing a series of hardware installation; ✅KW Clubsport V4 coilovers ✅SPL rear handling parts, nothing in the front, yet. ✅New set of tyres RE71RS ✅CSG brake pads ✅Verus rear diffuser We decided to run the Supra again to see where we are at, before we continue the journey and Djan clocked a 2 min 25.039; 5 seconds faster than we are at bone stock. Pretty happy with the results since ECU and TCU is still stock and a lot of you asked me, what’s my quest? Honestly, I have no idea. Just going with the flow and improvise. Of course we can buy everything on the catalog and be done; like what I did on the TTRS, but where’s the fun in that? In fact, that is the mistake I made with the TTRS is going in too fast (sounds like a teenage love relationship 😜) Couple of take aways from this outing; - The CSG brake pads are good, but the brake travel even with braided hose is apparent, better now vs stock, probably not noticeable on street use, but on the track is; - Steering limiter kit from the brake ducts kit is useless, need to find an alternative limiter before I kill the brake ducts; - The KW to me, is still street friendly which is something that I prefer rather than killing my back when I daily car 😛 - Cooling option required or just run the car at night session. More things to come, in fact some already arrived but I decided to save it for another session. Tarmac Vol 3 15 Sept 2023 Part 2 The MK8 Golfs shakedown that could have gone better, if the tyres on the Golf 8R held its form. A collaboration with @brainsyncmotorsports started a few months back and after some road testing, the Golf 8R is due for its maiden shakedown. The objective was not to compete but to test if the Stage 2 calibration was fit to run a lap without issues and collect data. Running a set of used tyres, some handling setup, mandatory Motul RBF700 brake fluid change and everything else factory hardware, the Golf R completed its first lap in a hot afternoon with a 2 min 28.075 lap time with @yeotimothy behind the wheels. Surprised the Golf R was capable of a 2.28 on its first warm up lap, we rested the car and waited for the evening time attack session. On its second lap out, it completed a 2.26.118 blocked by traffic and we got excited, greedy and forgotten that its was just a shakedown with a set of worn out tyres. We gave Tim the greenlight for full out lap, he happily obliged and the tyres gave way on its final turn to complete the lap. Thankfully, no one was injured, minor damage to the inner fender and forced to retire the car. The MK8 GTI on the other hand, running our Stage 2 software, owned and piloted by Tim, on its maiden shakedown as well, ended with a 2 min 33 secs with a set of worn tyres. Not too bad but could do with a little more power but we will see how it goes with a new fresh set of tyres. Both Golfs with their respective timing, placed them in a P2 position and takes home their first trophy (Euro 2.0 AWD and FWD) and hopefully more to come. Will be looking forward to the next outing. Tarmac Vol 3.0 15 Sept 2023 Part 1 Fastest TTRS in Sepang 2.15.371 lap time A memorable night, after a long hiatus to the project TTRS, once, was the fastest TTRS in Sepang with 2.16.199 lap time, we are now back on the top with a lap time of 2 min 15. 371s. Not our targeted time, and probably will be beaten soon since its only marginally faster but let us cherish the moment. A lot of work impending as we continue to try squeeze more from this setup, and interestingly enough, the stock engine is still pretty capable after all the beating throughout the year. For those who has been following our updates, yes, we bought a built engine and had it on for testing in Tarmac Vol 2.0 before the haldex gave up on us. Our first Volkswagen Golf 8R with EVO4 engine in collaboration with Brainsync Motorsports (BSM) started back in June 2023. Initially wanted to document the work progressively, but eventually gave up due to workload so everything is going into this long-ish single post. Having installed the Millteksport catback first and the 8r was put onto the dyno for benchmark; 309hp and 412nm torque was the base figure. While waiting for our shopping list to arrive, we decided to run the car on a Stage 1 calibration to see how much power can the Golf R dish out. Stock : 309hp 412nm torque Stage 1 Ron 97 : 381hp 501nm torque Pretty decent gains with just a Sprint Filter Cars Malaysia drop in filter and it was back to BSM for testing. Fast forward 2 months later after passing drivability test, the shopping list arrived and having them installed this week, we proceed to run the car on the dyno. KL Wheels Vol 3 A day out at the KL Wheels Vol 3 event to support our customers comprising of a lineup of Audis - RS3, TTRS and TT. The Audi TT 2.0T FWD has been running in numerous drag event since 2022 and yesterday could be its final drag event. Sadly, can't say that its going out in style because it only managed a 12.205 ET vs its PB of 11.287s in KL Wheels Vol2 but nevertheless, still finished with a 2nd place. As this chapter closes for the TT, we hope a new motorsport chapter will unveil and we can be part of this new journey. Meanwhile, the RS3 hatchback is, still trying to hit its 9s target with full weight (race seats in front) on the strip but unfortunately missed, slight improvement over its Vol2 time with a new PB of 10.165s; so near, yet so far. Will have to try again in the next outing. As for RS3 sedan that we have been working on in the past week, is not new to drag events, however, it has never managed to go under 11s in previous outings. Glad to see that it finally managed to clocked its personal best of 10.557s yesterday. Thank you for putting your trust in us. Audi TTRS is, however, a random entry. Registered last minute, fresh from clocking his PB of 2.24s in Sepang, managed a 10.638s 402m, making it a triple 10s finish for the RS. Podium finish for everyone but we have to note that there are only 3 cars in this category, so everyone gets one 🤣 It was never the trophies to begin with, but rather a personal best on the strip. Nevertheless, it was a fun outing, lots of laughter despite the hot weather and bad traffic heading to the drag strip. Congratulations to all for your new personal best. First Sepang outing with the Supra and I left camera gears at home, so iPhone photos will have to do 🤣 The goal wasn't to chase time; I was curious what a bone stock can do in Sepang so we can have a benchmark. Honestly speaking, I am the worse candidate to do a benchmark and since we have @tengkudjanley in the pit, I gladly handed him the keys; and 2 min 30.7s on the Supra benchmark set. With my previous cars, I have always gone on the power route first; probably installing almost every aftermarket performance part that I can find. This time, I am taking a different approach, something that I personally lack knowledge of but eager to learn more, chassis tuning. I have been procrastinating - going from considering a cayman to a Supra A90 for months. I never really pulled the trigger because I was comfortable not having a project car but when a friend told me that he is bringing in a horizon blue supra A91, I couldn't resist and said "OK" despite my bank account saying "NOT OK" 🤣 While many choose to PPF / detail their car the moment they took it, I choose to go for a dyno session 🤣 ; of course after the mandatory oil change. Not too bad 375hp 540nm, I was expecting less circa 360hp since the A90 should be around 333hp. Not too far away from the 380hp Toyota / BMW declared. I know all the BMW jokes will be coming my way but I really wanted to try a different platform other than the usual VAG Quattro / AWD; I mean, we only live once. What plans I have for the supra? Completed another one of our customer's build; a 9sec Audi RS3. Couple of months back, the RS3 was running a stock clutch, won its maiden 1/4 drag race in March 2023 with the fastest pass at 10.21s. Since then, the thought of running 9s pass has always been lingering, but it was not possible to unleash more power with a stock clutch but the TVS race clutch was already on the way and after installing the race clutch and recalibration and we put the RS3 on the dyno. Stage 4 with stock clutch : 733HP 805nm Stage 4 with TVS race clutch : 846HP 984nm Before we even managed to do a posting on this, the owner went out with his dragy 🤣 and clocked a 9.99s with a gradient of 1.27%; corrected to a 9.56s on street tyres RE71RS. Any room for improvement? Not the shakedown that we expected. Though, planned much earlier to do a shakedown with a built engine now running on the TTRS, we have been procrastinating as we prioritised customers' project instead. Running on the same hybrid turbo and every other hardware we had earlier, this is its first shakedown in Sepang to ensure the new engine is running fine before tomorrow's Cartell Track Attack Vol II. Well the engine seems to be running strong but the haldex controller wasn't; triggering error randomly and causing the car to lose time through corners; clocking 4 secs from its best time 2.16.199s. Despite numerous attempt to "reset" electronically and resume testing, the haldex continues to behave erratically and subsequently an unidentified mechanical issues (not engine related) forced us to retire the TTRS from further testing to avoid further damage. Consolation wise, we managed to complete some adjustment to the handling setup and clocked the best time of 2 min 16.297s when the haldex was in a good mood. But, we will likely to skip the Cartell Time Attack, unless miraculously, replacement parts appear in our workshop tomorrow 🥲 Guess lady luck is not on our side this time. #projectTTRS #quattrozonemotorsport #DAZA #audivstheworld #hybridturbo #audi #audisport

KL Wheels drag 18 Mar 2023 It was a crazy hot afternoon with our customers. Originally 2 entries and ended up with 3 as the M340i was a last minute decision to tag along. Audi TT MK3 Stage 3 stock engine with pump fuel RON 100 is regular drag racer, bested his PB of 11.8s in Terengganu drag strip with a new PB of 11.287s for 402m, landing him the title Champion for its category. Audi RS3 Stage 3 with pump fuel Ron 100 running stock brakes / suspension / clutch and uprated turbo with no water meth on his first debut drag (and probably last 🤣) clocked a 10.2s, landing him the category winner after taking on another RS3 Stage 3 in the finals. BMW M340i Stage 3 first debut as well - actually not too sure what he has inside the car because owner is a DIY guy and does most of the upgrades himself (including tuning).
