Chi Alpha Sigma • National College Athlete Honor Society inductees! Colette Vance, Bailey Teter, Ella Schellenberg, and Chloe Lowder were inducted into a very special group tonight! Riley Nickol, Jenna McCullough, Sarah Wilson, Haley Davidson and Stephanie Soares are members and were initiated last year into Chi Alpha Sigma in recognition of high academic and athletic achievement. Chi Alpha Sigma is the first, and only, national scholar-athlete society to honor those four-year collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition. The student-athlete must be a junior and have a 3.4 or higher cumulate grade point average. Presenting these awards this evening was Dr. Julie Beeman. She is our wonderful F.A.R., Chair and professor of our Criminal Justice Department. His leadership, work ethic, and ability to buy into something greater than himself has allowed him to develop into an impact player, teammate, and student. He has formed and developed into a very positive and motivational leader while also improving his own skills on the court. He is always willing to go above and beyond for his team while giving back to our Abbey community as a whole. His men’s volleyball team currently ranks top five for the department for community service hours (averaging 14 hours per player), in the last four years his SAAC team has grossed over 8,500 dollars for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, logged over 20,500 hours in community service, has been number one for four consecutive years in Conference Carolinas for Community Service, (5,500+hours - 2023/2024), has been number one in Conference Carolinas Make-A-Wish Dollars raised, and currently ranks 21st by Helper Helper for all Division II programs. On top of all these amazing accomplishments Clay works tirelessly in the classroom maintaining a 4.0 GPA and has been proudly accepted into Duke University’s Bioethics and Science Policy program.
