[No One Like Mother ] "I enjoy climbing tall structures that are impossible to reach, where I can sit and enjoy the view for hours. During one such climb, I found myself thinking about my second week at school. I remember getting in trouble in class for accidentally dropping my pencil. The teacher probably thought I lacked manners because I did not apologize for getting up. When I explained that apologizing for something so minor was pointless, she ended up beating my hands repeatedly, about twenty times, I believe. I knew my mother would take care of her when she found out, so I stayed still and cried. I find it amusing whenever I think about it. When my mother came to pick me up and saw my hands, she blew up at the headmaster of the school and the teacher who hit me. It was quite hilarious to see the headmaster go from a proud lion to a scared mouse. I know that what Mother wanted more than anything was to beat the teacher as she had done me, but Mother took them to court and we won a lot of money. 28. Healing from within.❤️🩹 After months and months of healing, I was somewhat back to my old self. I still had some problems, and I still do, but life started to go on however it could. Amedeo and I grew closer. It is said that parents who go through what we did normally would grow apart, we did not. To both our frigth and delight I became with child again just as mothers soul had said. It was both amazing and terefying. I was afraid that I would lose the baby. The bundle of joy that was growing within me was, of course, Carlos. I still wonder to this day how I became whit child so soon again. The doctor that had been there for Gunrun’s death chek said that the chances of me being with child again would be nothing sort of a miracle. And yet again, I did. Sitting around the camp fier has become somewhat of a habit for Carlos and myself. I almost always end up making something, and Carlos always sits on one of the chairs, ether cleaning his beloved bow or just looking at it. 27. A mother's worst nightmare. I woke up one night to check on Gunrun but noticed she was not breathing her skin cold to the tutch. “Amedeo, Amedeo. She is not breathing” he jumped up and started rubbing her chest, trying to get her to breathe. But my baby was dead, the doctor told us with a sadden voice that she died during the night. I screamed and cried the entire day. Amedeo was devastated but kept holding me. We laid in the bed for the entire day. And I who thought that I had experienced the worst. I felt like I was the one who was dead. I stopped eating, sleeping, I almost stopped breathing. The doctors said I only had days left. In one of my many comas, I had what I believe was a message from Mother. She told me to gather myself, and she held my face with her hands. It was as if she was really holding me. “Gather yourself, my dear Elisabeth. It is time for you to get up and continue your life. Live your life with your husband. There will be another.” She held me in her embrace, letting me heal.
