The Prince cherished his Queen and covered her in jewels until his untimely death. He supervised the creation and commissioned this superb emerald tiara from Joseph Kitching in 1845. From the screen to the palace 🏰 As many of you know, Crown Princess Mette-Marit's diamond daisy tiara had a moment in the spotlight before it found its way to her head on her wedding day in 2001. Cate Blanchett wore it in a movie called 'An Ideal Husband' from 1999. Garrard let the movie borrow some of their jewels, including this tiara. It was later bought by King Harald and Queen Sonja for their new daughter-in-law 🥰 I personally feel like this was a lovely addition the Norwegian royal vault, and Mette-Marit seems to love it a lot. However, I think it is time for her to let her daughter wear it instead - she could use two tiaras. Mette-Marit should reach for Queen Maud's Diamond Tiara instead. It has just been gathering dust in the vault since Princess Ragnhild last wore it in the early 90's, so someone at the Palace, preferably Mette-Marit, should wear it asap!! 😅 And lastly, here's a VERY important question: have you seen the movie 'An Ideal Husband'?? History Monday - The Bourbon Parma/Lobkowics Tiara. The Lobkowics tiara, aka the Princess Marie-Francoise of Bourbon-Parma tiara is an elaborate all diamond floral and foliate tiara from the 1830’s. It features a pair of flower heads set within foliate scrolls, linked by a diamond garland and topped with another flower head. It rests on a large band of sizable diamonds. So who owned this tiara you ask? The first pictorial evidence we have of anyone wearing the tiara is of Princess Madeleine of Bourbon-Parma (nee Countess Madeleine of Bourbon-Busset), wife of Prince Xavier of Bourbon-Parma in the 1930’s. It is thought that this is from the Bourbon-Parma line and not did not come from the Bourbon-Busset’s. She loaned the tiara to her sister-in-law Princess Margaret of Bourbon-Parma to wear to the wedding ball of Princess Ingrid of Sweden to Crown Prince (future King Frederick IX) of Denmark in 1935 and again to King Christian X’s silver jubilee in 1937. She also loaned the tiara to her niece, Archduchess Elisabeth of Austria for her wedding to Prince Heinrich of Liechtenstein in 1949. Princess Madeleine also wore the tiara to her daughter, Princess Cecile’s coming of age ball at the Ritz in 1955 and to the pre-wedding ball of her daughter, Princess Marie-Francoise of Bourbon-Parma in 1960. Speaking of Princess Madeleine’s daughter, Princess Marie-Francoise, in 1960 she was gifted the family tiara upon her marriage to Prince Edouard de Lobkowicz, who is from a Czech noble family. Throughout her life she wore the tiara to quite a few society events and galas. She also loaned it to her second cousin, Princess Charlotte of Liechtenstein when she wed Pieter van der Byl in 1979. For some time nothing was heard of this tiara until it had left possession of Princess Marie-Francoise Lobkowicz and appeared at an exhibition for Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels to be sold in May of 2018. Before the sale could go through though, Prince Charles Henri Lobkowicz, Princess Marie-Francoise’s third son, bought back the tiara. . 05.04.2024 v Prahe na výstavisku v Letňanoch som sa zúčastnila na medzinárodnej profesionálnej súťaži v nechtovom dizajne a Nail Arte @czech_nail_cup. Bolo to prvýkrát, čo som sa niečoho takého zúčastnila. Prihlásila som sa do 6 nominácii a v 3 z nich sa mi hneď podarilo získať umiestnenie 🥇🥈🥇. Toto je jedno z nich. 2.miesto v kategórii JUNIOR na tému Kráľovské poklady. Bála som sa, že pri tomto zadaní prídem o nervy, ale opak bol pravdou. Neskutočne som si to užívala hlavne v momentoch, keď to začínalo naberať ten správny tvar a ligot. 🌟🌟 Je už teraz jasné, že to nieje posledná súťažná práca tohto druhu. Princess Astrid wearing her diamond bracelet/bandeau during a state visit from Lithuania in 2011 ✨ Funnily enough she also wore an Easter egg looking necklace, so I thought it was fun to post this now as Easter was only one week ago 🥰 This diamond bracelet may have originally belonged to Queen Sophia of Sweden and Norway as we can see it on her wrist in a portrait. Princess Astrid's mother, Crown Princess Märtha, received it as a wedding gift from King Gustav and Queen Victoria of Sweden. This is one of the jewels that apparently won’t be returned back to the royal family when Astrid passes away. (I want her to live forever, just saying). Princess Ingrid Alexandra received it as a confirmation gift from Princess Astrid, who herself inherited it after her grandmother Queen Maud (Queen Victoria’s grandchild). Friday Tiara - the Khedive of Egypt Tiara This diamond sparkler was Queen Margrethe’s wedding tiara, worn for her marriage to Prince Henrik in 1967 (pic 2). But let’s rewind…. The diamond scroll tiara, made by Cartier, was Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden’s wedding gift from Khedive Abbas II of Egypt. Now, it isn’t only a tiara - jewel can be worn both as a traditional tiara and as a corsage ornament. The Khedive tiara’s story begins even before the piece’s creation. Princess Margareta, the niece of King Edward VII of the United Kingdom, was on a royal tour with her parents, who wanted to marry their daughters off to suitable royal spouses. They had their eye on the future king of Sweden, Gustaf VI Adolf, as a prospective partner for Margareta’s sister, Princess Patricia. They rendezvous-ed with Gustaf Adolf in Cairo, where he immediately fell in love — but with the wrong sister. It didn’t matter, in the end; Margaret was in love with him, too. Gustaf Adolf proposed to her during a dinner at the British consulate in Cairo, and the two were married at Windsor in 1905. Because their love story was so tied to Cairo, it was important that the Khedive of Egypt — the governor of the country, which was ruled by the British at the time — give them a suitable wedding present. He commissioned Cartier to make this tiara for the occasion. Not a bad wedding gift ey? Joséphine de Beauharnais’ cameo parure, part of the Swedish Royal collection, consists of a diadem, necklace, earrings, brooch, and two bracelets. What I find so fascinating about it is that is made of such a wide range of materials, including gold, pearls, diamonds, and perhaps most eye catching, large cameos. It was a gift from Emperor Napoleon I to his wife Joséphine de Beauharnais around 1805. But how did it end up in our Swedish vault? It was inherited by Joséphine’s granddaughter, Queen Josefina, who was married to Oscar I of Sweden. When Queen Josefina passed away in 1876, she bequeathed the entire cameo parure to her only daughter, Princess Eugénie, who then passed the jewels on to her nephew Prince Eugen in 1889. Princess Sibylla received them as a gift from Prince Eugen at her wedding to Gustaf Adolf in 1932. Sibylla bequeathed the jewels to her only son (Carl XVI Gustaf, our current king), and they are now frequently worn by Queen Silvia, who when she wears the cameo parure usually does not mix it with any other jewelry. She first wore the jewels at the Nobel Banquet in 1992 and has worn them at subsequent Nobel Banquets in 1996, 1998, and 2005. At weddings… The tiara was worn by Queen Silvia as a bridal crown on June 19, 1976. It has also been worn by Swedish Princesses Birgitta and Désirée at their respective weddings. In 1894, Tsarevich Nicholas proposed to Princess Alix of Hesse and by Rhine. After getting engaged, Nicholas gave this tiara to his fiancée. In that same year, they became Emperors of Russia. Despite being the most powerful woman in Russia, Alix, now Alexandra Feodorovna continued to wear her small tiara for the rest of her life. Near the end of her life, Alexandra wore the crown for the famous family portrait session, which took place in 1913 or 1914. Unfortunately in 1918 the imperial family was murdered, including Alexandra. The tiara was confiscated by the Bolsheviks and has not been seen since. - The Court Jeweller
