Some unfortunate but expected news. Legacy Motor Club has confirmed that driver of the #43 Toyota Camry Erik Jones will not be able to race Dover this weekend due to an injury suffered in a crash at Talladega this past weekend. Jones suffered a compression fracture in a lower vertebra. Jones said he’ll take things week by week. Legacy Motor Club reserve driver and full time Craftsman Truck Series driver Corey Heim will fill in for Jones in the #43 this weekend. Heim, a top prospect in the sport will be making his Cup Series debut. Heim is also running the Xfinity Series race with Sam Hunt Racing in the #26 car where he has had good success this season. Kind of crazy how Jones suffered the same injury as Alex Bowman last season at the same time. Bowman went on to miss 4 races (3 point races + All-Star). Even crazier, they’ll likely both have missed their best race track. Bowman missed Dover and Darlington is in a couple weeks where Jones has 2 wins. Jones currently sits 20th in the points standings but will likely need a win to make the playoffs. NASCAR has granted him a playoff waiver. The final day of preseason Thunder for the JDRF Xfinity Series! Teams & drivers took Daytona for the final hour of preseason 2024 and surprisingly little to none single car runs were made today and everyone primarily made pack runs. HMS’s No.17 had Alex Bowman behind the wheel and the Arizona native clocked in 8th once the red flags came out. The ROTY candidates all made pack runs together SVG, ended up P10, Honeyman P15, and RCR’s Jesse Love P11 when Gen clocked hit 0. But outta all the rookies it was AM Racings Hailie Deegan who topped the timing charts for the final day with a 49.928 speed of 182.563 MPH. Day 1 for the xfinity series drivers had teams and drivers get up to speed for 2024 as rookies got their first taste in xfinity equipment and drivers got settled into their new teams! JR Motorsports saw the bossman himself Dale Earnhardt Jr take to the track in the No.88 and locked in P7 once the red flags came out. All 5 of JGR’s cars had drivers making good laps Chandler Smith, and Sheldon Creed new to the JGR family made good laps and were up at the top of the speed charts. Then we got this and man does it look great. The green and red work great together and don’t look like a Christmas scheme. 17. Kaz Grala’s FDC Shellback Espresso #26 - I usually have a issue with non-patriotic schemes in patriotic races but this one is awesome. Was really random but looks really cool. 18. John Hunter Nemechek’s Yahoo! #20 - Not much to say here, I love purple and this is purple. 19. Josh Berry’s LubeZone #8 - This scheme gives me like Looney Tunes vibes. Favorite Xfinity Series Schemes from 2023 | 26-30! 26. Daniel Hemric’s Cirkul #11 - All the Cirkul schemes are usually great but the white nose on them looks the best. 27. Kaz Grala’s Island Coastal Lager #26 - White base schemes can just be so effective for me. The 2 different blues work really well together. Just very good. 28. Kaz Grala’s Fire Department Coffee #26 - Another pretty simple scheme but the colors just pop. The red feels so vibrant and the white compliments it well. 29. Daniel Hemric’s South Point #11 - I really wish South Point still sponsored one race on the #98. Looks better with that car but this is still very solid. 30. Tyler Reddick’s GearWrench #24 - If they just copied Harvick’s Cup scheme for this, this might be top 10. The copper is just kind of flat. Some updates and rumors • Cole Custer will return to the Xfinity Series in 2024. Made the most sense in my opinion. I’d rather take a chance on Gragson in the #10 than give Custer another chance really. SHR will run back the same Xfinity lineup. • It’s been confirmed that Sheldon Creed’s car actually broke a part during the battle with Hill at Martinsville. RCR’s Andy Petree has now apologized for what he said after the race to Creed. • Rumors are saying Kaz Grala will head to Kaulig in Xfinity. I’m shocked but I love this. He deserves a top ride. • With Grala possibly leaving Sam Hunt Racing, who takes the #26? Bayne? Truex? Snider? • Jordan Anderson Racing has confirmed both Jeb Burton and Parker Retzlaff will return in 2024. Pretty obvious decisions here. Anderson himself teased a shake up so maybe there will be more? • Grant Enfinger has confirmed he has plans done for 2024 but he can’t announce them yet. I think the 3 options would be Bill McAnally Racing, Niece Motorsports, and ThorSport. • Rajah Caruth also seems to have plans done for 2024. No clue what they might be right now.
