Jasper Update 🧡🐾 After his day at the vet yesterday, the good news is that Jasper’s blood results are normal and he is also FIV negative. He has also been neutered and microchipped. On examination, Jasper was found to have muscle wastage in his hind legs. The X-ray showed nothing of consequence although at some point he may have had a hairline fracture of one of the bones of his pelvis that has knitted back together. It is possible he has sustained some sort of injury which has led to him walking differently. We can’t know if any of his clumsiness is due to the muscle wastage or is something neurological. An X-ray won’t tell us about anything neurological so we will be monitoring him for signs of pain. The vet thinks he is 5 -6 years old at most and not an older boy that he seemed at first. They suggested physiotherapy may help rebuild strength in his hind legs but it’s not something cats are good at tolerating. Jasper is now recovering in a very short term temporary foster home but we are urgently looking for a longer term foster home, or for someone to foster him with a view to adoption. Jasper is a timid nervous cat but is also very sweet. With some TLC and patience this boy will have a chance of a happy life. #secondchanceforcatsnewales #rescuecat #neuteryourpets #gingercat #jasper #adoptdontshop #lookingforahome #microchipyourpets

Late evening rescue 🧡 Gorgeous Jasper came into care last night. We had been speaking to his caretaker for quite a while but unfortunately as there are so many cats in need Jasper had to wait for his chance to be safe. He was left behind when his previous owners moved house and was being fed and given shelter by a kind couple. He had always come very close to them but never allowed anyone to stroke him. Recently it was noticed that he was losing his footing, becoming clumsy and generally not walking too well. He also appeared tired and unwell to the point that they decided he was now in need of vet care. His little face looks like he could tell some stories, but we all hope the next part of his life will be completely filled with love no matter how long it might be. Jasper was caught last night and has spent his first night indoors for a long time. He is off to the vet this morning so we will update when we know more 🧡🐾 #secondchanceforcatsnewales #rescuecat #gingercat #jasper

Please share 🐾 Archie, mini panther, is looking for his forever home. ❤️ A bit about Archie. 🐾Can live with other cats? No 🐾 Can live with small children? No 🐾 Can live with dogs? Untested 🐾Age: 8/9 months approx 🐾Favourite food/treat: Everything! 🐾Favourite activity: bunny kicking catnip toys, chasing the laser toy 🤭 and late night zoomies 🐾Likes a fuss? Absolutely 🥰 🐾Cutest feature: His loud purr 🐾Funniest habit: trying to help himself to food if you don’t feed him on time! 🐾Three words that best describe him: Confident, mischievous, adorable. His purrfect home would be with several adults who'll share giving him attention or someone who is at home a lot during the day. We think Archie doesn’t like being alone and always tries to ensure he leaves the room with you! He has a strong prey drive so can become a bit too excited playing, and get confused between toys and people’s hands. He is not suitable as an indoor only cat and would benefit from safe outdoor access to let off steam. We wouldn’t recommend a home with young children as Archie is still learning his manners. He will need someone who understands how to encourage him to play with his toys until he can go outside. Archie is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, up to date with parasite control will be homed with 5 weeks free pet insurance. To apply for this little character, Archie, please complete our online form via this link https://forms.gle/aeHZXApAhfne8CbM8 Homecheck and adoption fee applies. If you live in rented accommodation please also send evidence of the landlord’s consent to keeping a cat at the time of completing the enquiry form 🐾 #secondchanceforcatsnewales #blackcats #rescuecat #adoptdontshop #neuteryourpets

Happy Dylan update 😻 Dylan is now back with his caretaker settling in nicely, and he clearly knows he’s back where he belongs. He will now have a little spell of re-bonding before he is able to go back outside. He has a cosy enclosed shelter and will be able to come in and out as he pleases to enjoy his life as a “looked after” community cat 😻 We are so grateful to our supporters, our fundraising team and to our community cat caretakers who make it possible to treat and care for these cats so they can live their best lives ❤️🐾 #secondchanceforcatsnewales #rescuecat #neuteryourpets #communitycats

Please share ⚠️ Does anyone recognise this cat who is currently living in the Cefn Mawr area? He has been around for a while and a kind lady is looking out for him but he’s not coping too well living outside. We’ll be arranging to trap him and get him checked over at the vet but he does seem as though he’d be happier living in a home. #secondchanceforcatsnewales #rescuecat

Dottie Update. After three days in the vets on fluids, a blood test, antibiotics and an ultrasound, Dottie’s temperature is still not normal. The vets have so far found nothing obvious for why her temperature is still raised and she’s not wanting to eat. She’ll be back again later today for a check up. We are hoping it’s possibly viral and will resolve if her fever breaks. Come on Dottie, you little sweetheart 🥺 Our bills just for Dottie in the last few days are around £740 so any donations will be very much appreciated ❤️ #secondchanceforcatsnewales #tortiecats

Please share ⚠️ Lucky and Dottie updates. It feels relentless at the monent. Lucky is thought to be an older boy. The vets have found that he has a grade 3 heart murmur with a possibility of “something” in his stomach. We’ll be looking at even more vet costs next week to find out what that “something” is 🥺 Poor Dottie’s temperature is refusing to come down 😔. She has spent two days on fluids in the vet and is back today for X-ray and an ultrasound to try and get to the bottom of what is going on. Our funds are low and really don’t stretch to so many large expenses at once but we have to help these cats. We’ll update further on them both when we know more. #rescuecat #secondchanceforcatsnewales #neuteryourpets #rescuecats

Handsome community cat, Biscuit, is at the vets today. He recently was neutered and treated for an infected head wound. His caretaker is concerned as he seems to be having a few urine leakage issues in the last few days so he’s in today for some investigations to get to the bottom of it. We are very grateful to a kind volunteer for being able to transport him there this morning and are all keeping Biscuit in our thoughts today. We will provide a further update later when the vets have had chance to check him over and run any necessary tests How to donate to help Biscuit: ✅Donate by card directly to Biscuit’s bill at the Gatehouse Vet Centre in Lavister by calling on 01244 570364. ✅GoFundMe (PayPal option available via this link for donations over £5) https://gofund.me/b1443447 ✅Bank transfers: Lloyds Bank Business Account Acc Name: Second Chance 4 Cats Sort Code: 309897 Acc number: 70065263 Reference: Biscuit ✅Cheques Please make payable to 'Second Chance 4 Cats' Post to - SCFC, Caelan, Drury Lane, Leeswood, Mold, Flintshire CH7 4SJ We appreciate every penny and nobody should feel they have to say “Sorry it’s not more”. Happy Dylan update 😻 It is now almost a month since Dylan came in to our care with a nasty infected ‘hole’ in his head. Dylan was another unneutered male abandoned when his ‘owners’ moved away, who then ended up in an awful state. He is now almost fully healed and soon will be ready to go back to his carer. She will keep him in the house for a little while for him to re-bond with her and his home patch. You can see how much happier and healthier he looks in the first photo (now) compared to the last photo (when he first arrived). He has had the best care from his wonderful fosterer and it shows in his gorgeous face! Please keep spreading the word that neutering males is just as important as neutering females. So much suffering could be avoided if only they were neutered as 4 month old kittens. Thank you so much to everyone who kindly donated to help with Dylan’s vet bills. Your donations really do make a difference in the lives of the cats we are able to help. ❤️ #secondchanceforcatsnewales #neuteryourpets #communitycats

Please share ⚠️ This beautiful boy was trapped yesterday after living as a stray for many months. He has been named ‘Fluffy’ for now and is currently in the vets. Fluffy is yet another unneutered male who has ended up in a state. He was given flea/worm treatment yesterday and today he is being castrated, blood tested for FIV/FeLV and having his hair clipped. He is very matted but also has lost a lot of hair. We hope it is flea allergy dermatitis which once he has continuous protection might clear up. It is possible that he has been pulling the fur out to get at the irritation 😢 We will update again after he has had his procedures ans blood test. Once again we are incurring significant vet bills helping another unneutered stray male. How to help Fluffy with a donation: ✅Donate directly off Fluffy’s vet bill. Dottie update ⚠️ Long term resident Dottie has been quieter, refusing her food over the last few days. She was at the vet last week and the plan is now to run bloods to see if there is an underlying cause which we hope we can treat. Dottie is very bonded to Angelina (another long term resident) who seems to have gained confidence since her friendship has blossomed. We are desperately hoping to find out that it is something treatable for Dottie’s sake, but also for her best friend Angelina’s sake. We will update when we know more. Please keep our darling Dottie in your thoughts 🧡🐾 We are also very much in need of funds to pay our vet bills at the moment and if you would like to donate to help Dottie even £1 or £2 would be very much appreciated. Please share to keep helping Ivy. We are still needing to raise more funds for her to have a ‘high field’ MRI scan but in the meantime Ivy is running short of several supplements particularly the kidney support and the agile joint support (which are between £40 and £50 unfortunately) as well the disposable puppy pads. Happy Caturday! 😺 We're hoping we've seen the last of the rain and everyone can enjoy the weekend. Some of the community kitties we've helped over the past year have been out and about enjoying some warmer weather. Handsome boy Kelvin, who we recently released after recovering from his nasty head wound and dental, popped by to say hi to his caretaker 🖤 Also the gorgeous Mr Grey, local celeb Haggis and pirate kitty Captain Jack who has healed wonderfully after his damaged eye was removed 😻 It's so wonderful to see these gorgeous cats so happy and looking much healthier now after being neutered and having vet treatment. We're here for them if they need any additional help. Their caretakers are all doing a fabulous job of supporting them and we love receiving their updates ❤🐾 #secondchanceforcatsnewales #communitycats #supportyourlocalrescue #neuteryourpets #microchipyourpets

Kelvin Update 🐾❤️ After Kelvin was released his caretaker didn’t see him for a week. He probably had to patrol his territory and make sure all was just as he left it. There are probably other people that he visits who may have been very pleased to see him back. 😻 #secondchanceforcatsnewales #neuteryourpets #communitycats #secondchanceforcatsnewales

Dylan Update ❤️ We are pleased that community cat Dylan’s injury is drying out and is no longer infected. The wound is still too open and delicate for him to go back to his patch but as soon as it’s no longer at risk of opening up again he can be returned. Like a lot of cats who have been roughing it after being abandoned, he has had an upset tummy. We won’t go into detail but are closely monitoring this too. Hopefully it is a one off incident and not a recurring problem. We are changing his diet to be gentler on his tummy and will add in other supplements if needed. If you would like to donate to Dylan’s care you are welcome to ring Wern Vets in Ruthin and make a donation to our account. Kelvin update 😻 A month after being treated for a very nasty head wound, Kelvin has finally gone home and become another Second Chance community cat. We had hoped he could have gone home sooner but he needed a dental. He had one missing canine tooth and three cracked canines. We couldn’t return him knowing he had dental pain but he also couldn’t have his dental until his wound was well on the way to healing. Unfortunately he developed an infection after his dental and needed antibiotics. This delayed his return still futher. He was very unhappy being confined but it was the only way we could ensure he was treated. The weather forecast was dry for today so we felt this was a good time for him to go back. Last night he spent some time in a small crate in his caretaker’s dining room and first thing this morning his crate was outside for a while for him to get his bearings from smell, sounds, voices etc. This morning he was meowing, as if he knew he was back on familiar territory. We like to think they were meows of happiness to be back 😻 Thank you to his amazing fosterer, to his wonderful caretaker who will continue to monitor him, to both Gatehouse Vets and Ben Jones Vets for treating him and to all our wonderful supporters who have donated to help give Kelvin his second chance. Kelvin is microchipped to us so we will step in should he need our help again. Be happy and safe Kelvin. We all love you ❤️🐾 #secondchanceforcatsnewales #rescuecat #communitycats #neuteryourpets #neuter

Pete update 😻 New boy Pete is settling well in his foster home. He was handed in as an injured stray to a vet and after his burst abscess had healed he was neutered and also found to be FIV+. He is going to need an indoor only home when he’s ready. He’ll need to get used to the indoor life now but as you can see he’s loving his bed which was kindly donated by Ginger Cat Crafts as part of their #takeyourbed project . This year they aim to fundraise to donate 1000 beds to cats in rescue for them to take with them to their new home. As you can see, Pete is rather happy with his very own new bed 🥰 A huge thanks once again to Ginger Cat Crafts 🧡 for their support and kind donation. #secondchanceforcatsnewales #rescuecat #neuteryourpets #FIVcats #fivcatsneedlovetoo

Please share! Apollo update ⚠️ Lovely old boy Apollo is still struggling with his digestive system. Stool samples have come back negative for any parasite or bacteria like e-coli, so he’s now booked in for an ultrasound. His foster mum is also desperately fundraising to get his much needed dental sorted but it seems there are always other diagnostic vet bills eating away at the funding pot before he can get his dental done. We’ll update again when he has had his ultrasound and we know more. Once again there will be additional unexpected vet bills to pay so any small contribution, even £1, is much appreciated. Please share 🐾 Ivy Update ⚠️ We have raised £495 of the £1500 needed for Ivy’s MRI scan. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far. We do still have a long way to go so please keep sharing her story (which we’ll copy in the comments) to help us reach the target. Ivy has another problem which we are suspecting is a kidney infection with a bacteria that is difficult to treat, as a result of her holding her bladder for over 24 hours when she first came into care. Her current vet has prescribed two antibiotics in the hope that this will help. We’ll keep updating as we find out more. Stripey Update ⚠️ Our gorgeous FIV boy Stripey is still struggling with his mouth despite having had all his teeth removed. We researched what could possibly help his immune system… (FIV issues can be complex)… and with his vet’s approval decided to trial him on Colostrum Therapy. His wonderful foster dad is trying to add the powder to his wet food but Stripey boy is a bit savvy for that! 😸 We won’t give up trying to keep him comfortable so his foster dad is going to trial an exclusive hydrolysed hypoallergenic diet for a period to see if that helps. We really need to try everything to keep his mouth pain free. He’s such a lovely lad who’s really happy with his foster dad and we want that to continue for as long as possible. Please, please neuter your male cats. It’s not purely about preventing kittens, it is also about reducing the likelihood of acquiring FIV from fighting which we see so often in unneutered males. We still have a vet bill outstanding for Kelvin (who will soon be released) but we also regularly incur vet bills for Stripey. If you would like to donate directly towards Stripey’s vet bills you can contact Ben Jones Vet Surgery in Saltney on 01244 629999 and make a payment against our Second Chance account. We also wanted to say thank you to Ben Jones and his team for the extra research that goes in to looking for possible solutions to Stripey’s issues. #secondchanceforcatsnewales #rescuecat #neuteryourpets #fivcats #teamwork

Meet gorgeous Dylan ❤ This lovely lad was sadly abandoned by his owners over in Denbighshire after they moved home some time ago. A very kind lady has been helping support him with food up to now. Unfortunately Dylan wasn't neutered so the poor boy has gotten into fights with other toms and has a nasty injury to the side of his head. This was likely an abscess that had developed after a cat bite and has since burst, leaving a large wound 😿 Dylan's booked into the vets for Monday to be treated for his injury and also to be neutered. Once he's had time to recover he'll return to his patch. The lady who has been looking out for him is happy to continue supporting him with food and shelter as a community cat and we will help if he needs any future vet treatment. We are sadly seeing this happen over and over again. Cats being abandoned, not being microchipped or neutered and just left to fend for themselves. The cost of living crisis has created such a terrible situation for pet owners and small rescues like ourselves. So far this month we've had messages for over 20 cats needing to be rehomed but there just isn't space, or the funds, to help them all and it's breaking our hearts 💔 We're doing our best to help rehome as many as we can but we just can't keep up with the current rate and things are likely to get much worse. We are so grateful for all the support we receive but we can't do all this work ourselves. We are just a small team of volunteers doing what we can to help make a difference...just regular people who work other jobs, have homes, families and our own pets to look after. If you are in a position to help a cat in need, even if it's just providing food and shelter until a rescue can help them, please do so. We have to prioritise those most in need as we can't take them all sadly but we will always do what we can within our resources to help a cat and their owner find a solution 🐾 #secondchanceforcatsnewales #supportyourlocalrescue #neuteryourpets #rescuecat #communitycatsg

3/23/2024, 3:30:55 PM

⚠️Please share for awareness. News from Cats Protection is that they have paused their £10 neutering scheme with immediate effect 😞 This will negatively impact the number of cats being neutered and will have a knock on effect on the demands for small rescues to help when they just don’t have anything like the resources of Cats Protection. There have never been so many unneutered stray cats, and so many homes where people just allow their cats to breed. It’s utterly heartbreaking to see kittens having kittens. The country will never be in a position when all cats are neutered. There will always be outdoor cats even if everyone neutered their pets, but it feels like a never ending problem when people’s pet cats are reproducing and adding to the crisis. Kittens don’t deserve to be born outside just to pass away. Females don’t deserve to have litter after litter. Males don’t deserve to get into territorial fights and get horrific injuries because they aren’t neutered. When cats aren’t neutered they often suffer avoidable illnesses but, for the time being at least, there is no financial help for those on low incomes. The cost of living crisis has precipitated such huge demand for financial help with neutering that Cats Protection are themselves unable to cope. This is difficult news indeed, especially when small rescues barely have a fraction of the funds needed to neuter the cats in our care, let alone help neuter cats belonging to other people. Hopefully the pause won’t be for too long 🤞 #secondchanceforcatsnewales #supportyourlocalrescue #neuteryourpets

This beautiful girl is Binky, or fondly known as Binx ❤ Binx is sadly having to find a new home as the busy family situation at her current one is causing her lots of stress. She would prefer a quiet environment without children and other pets so she can have all the attention. This additional information will hopefully help find Binx the purrfect home: 🐾Age: 10 yrs 🐾Favourite food/treats: Loves any cat treats, IAMS biscuits 🐾Favourite toys and activity: Show’s a playful side when in a quiet environment. Enjoys playing with teaser wands 🐾Like a fuss? Will give head bumps but doesn’t like being picked up and prefers fusses on her terms. 🐾Cutest feature: Her squeak, rather than proper ‘meow’. She chirps a lot 🥰 🐾Funniest habit: Even at 10 she has the zoomies and runs around upstairs, over the beds, up and down the stairs 🤭 🐾Three words that best describes her: Sassy, cute and independent. An adult only, quiet home is needed where Binx is the only pet. She has a lot of love to give and loves being in the same room as you. She can be playful and fuss-loving in the right environment. Binx has been used to being outdoors a lot but prefers to be inside if a lot of dominant cats live in the neighbourhood. She would benefit from living in a quiet area without many homes nearby, or having safe outdoor access via a cat proofed garden/catio type enclosure. If you think you have the right home for the beautiful Binx please email us at [email protected] for our rehoming enquiry form. A homecheck and adoption fee will apply 🐾 #secondchanceforcatsnewales #adoptdontshop #tortitude

Gorgeous kitty Savannah is looking for a loving home 🧡 Sadly, Savannah and her furry friend Tiger are having to be rehomed. They are very much loved and well cared cats for but the situation is unfortunately beyond their owners control 😿 We would love for them to be homed together where possible as they are quite bonded and often groom each other. Here's a little more about Savannah to help find her purrfect home: 🐾Age 2 years old. 🐾Favourite food/treats: wet and dry Lily's Kitchen tins, Dreamies. 🐾Likes a fuss? Likes being stroked and having fuss but not overly keen on being picked up...you'd have to catch her first! 😺 🐾Favourite toy/activity: Chasing the cardboard toilet roll tubes 🤭 🐾Cutest feature: Her little meow 🐾Funniest habbit: Likes having a good wash, a lot! She keeps herself very clean. 🐾Three words that describe me: Small, cute and gentle. Savannah is very shy and quiet but she's a loving cat once she gets to know you. She doesnt meow a lot, except when she wants her treats ❤ She's a very gentle and calm natured kitty. Savannah would benefit from safe outdoor access with a catio type enclosure or cat proofed garden as she has never been outside. With careful introductions she could live with another friendly kitty. Savannah has never met a dog but may be okay around one that is chilled out and known to be friends with kitties as long as they're introduced slowly and carefully. She would suit a quieter home as hasn't been around young children or a busy, environment. Savannah will go to her new home neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, parasite treated and covered with 5 weeks free Agria pet insurance which offers lifetime cover regardless of age. If you think you could offer Savannah the purrfect home please email us at [email protected] for a rehoming enquiry form Please read the form thoroughly before completing and returning it. Here's a little more about about Tiger to help find his purrfect home: 🐾Age 4 years old. 🐾Favourite food/treats: Katkin, Lily's Kitchen tins, chicken flavour Lily's Kitchen biscuits. Dreamies 🐾Favourite toy/activity: Loves chasing toys. Likes playing with cardboard toilet roll tubes. 🐾Likes a fuss? Happy to be fussed and picked up but not for too long. 🐾Cutest feature: Stretches out on the floor for a tummy rub 😻 🐾Funniest habbit: Likes sitting in boxes too small for him 🤭 🐾Three words that describe me: Affectionate, handsome and inquisitive Tiger is a very loving cat once he gets to know you. He loves tummy rubs and side pats and has gorgeous green eyes. He would suit a quieter home as hasn't been around young children or used to a busy environment. Tiger would benefit from safe outdoor access with a catio type enclosure or cat proofed garden as he has never been outside. With careful introductions he could live with another friendly kitty. Tiger has never met a dog but may be okay around one that is chilled out and known to be friends with kitties as long as they're introduced slowly and carefully. Tiger will go to his new home neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, parasite treated and covered with 5 weeks free Agria pet insurance which offers lifetime cover regardless of age. If you think you could offer Tiger the purrfect home please email us at [email protected] for a rehoming enquiry form. Please read the form thoroughly before completing and returning it. We’ve had a lovely update about Ronnie (was Pickles). Handsome mini panther Ronnie was a stray that we originally helped to neuter and microchip in 2022. He is no longer a stray but a very happy boy settled in a home of his own. He even has his own feline companion as well. It looks like Ronnie has landed on his paws 🐾 We are so happy for him to see him living his best life 🥰 Wishing Ronnie and his mum and feline companion lots of happy times together! ❤️ #secondchanceforcatsnewales #rescuecat #minipanther #neuteryourpets #blackcat

Please share 🐾 Meet little Archie who is approximately 6-7 months old 🥰 Archie appeared suddenly as a stray and despite attempts to find an owner, several neighbours assumed he must have sneaked into a van and hitched a ride from elsewhere. It’s entirely possible that he did, because he’s a curious, friendly little boy who just wants to be with people. Please don’t apply to adopt Archie if you don’t want a cat who snuggles into your neck and purrs, who wants to be picked up and cuddled like a baby, who just wants to be close to you , falls asleep in your arms and who wants a lot of love and attention ❤️ If you are looking for a cat who is totally independent and does their own thing, Archie is probably not the right cat for you. Name: Archie Age: 6/7 months My Favourite food/treat: Everything!! My Favourite activity: bunny kicking catnip toys 🤭 Like a fuss? Absolutely 🥰 My cutest feature: my loud purr My funniest habit: trying to help myself to food if you don’t feed me on time! Three words that best describe my personality: Confident, curious, adorable My ideal forever home/family: Either a home with several people who will share giving me attention or a home where someone is around a lot during the day. I can get a bit excited and sometimes get confused between my toys and people’s fingers but I don’t mean to, and am easily distracted back to my toys. I will be better with older children than little ones. I am young and confident enough to adapt to another laid back cat or a chilled out dog with the right careful introductions, but I do like a lot of attention for myself! 🖤🐾 Archie will be homed neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and up to date with parasite control and 5 weeks free pet insurance. To apply to adopt adorable Archie please complete our online application by following the link below 👇 https://forms.gle/aeHZXApAhfne8CbM8 Homecheck and adoption fee applies. If you live in rented accommodation please also provide evidence of landlord’s agreement to keep a pet by email to [email protected] at the time of completing the enquiry form. #secondchanceforcatsnewales #blackcats #adoptdontshop #rescuecat

Ivy update 😻 We have managed to get Ivy a lovely foster home with a very experienced person who will proactively help Ivy in a number of ways. Ivy has additional needs due to a previous trauma from a road accident, and only an MRI would give us the precise answers as to exactly where the damage lies, which is currently beyond our finances, so in the meantime we will all work together to give a Ivy the best life she can have. Understandably Ivy is very confused and anxious tonight and will need some time to settle but we know she is in really good hands. In the longer term we are really hoping Ivy eventually makes friends with the other feline residents and if that goes well, Ivy will be able to stay permanently. This depends on Ivy and the other cat. Ivy will need various ongoing supplements for her bladder health, neurological problems and ongoing vet care so she will become one of our sanctuary/forever foster cats. She also needs a specialised diet. We will be providing regular updates on our special girl Ivy, and in time we will set up her own Amazon wishlist so anyone can have the opportunity to donate supplies especially for her. In the meantime, if you wish to donate to her care we have a separate Go Fund Me account for Ivy ✅ https://gofund.me/8aac361e ✅ Sponsorship scheme - sponsor Ivy from only £20 a year. Great as a gift! Tommy and Josephine update 💟 Two gorgeous tabby kittens were trapped, neutered and saved from a life at a tip. They were already past the normal socialisation window for kittens who have had no human interaction, so they would have really struggled with being forcibly handled into becoming domestic pets. We all felt that they deserved a better life than on a tip so they were neutered, microchipped and given plenty of TLC to get them stronger. Yesterday they went to their new cosy home where they will be safe, warm, dry, well fed and their health monitored. They will eventually have a cat paradise to play in once they have settled and gain access to outdoors. It is certainly a massive improvement on the life they would otherwise have had. All our community cats are neutered, microchipped and go to their new homes with 5 weeks’ free pet insurance. We place the same value on every cat, whether a domesticated lapcat or an outdoor cat. They all deserve the same level of care even if their lifestyles might be quite different. We wish Tommy and Josephine have the best life full of purrfect adventures! ❤️🐾 #secondchanceforcatsnewales #neuteryourpets #communitycatsneedlovetoo #rescuecats

Sherry update 💟 You may recall the recent case where a mum (who we called Sherry) and kittens were discovered in a lady’s shed next to a main road, and sadly a kitten was lost to dog before we got there to help 😢 Through a different member of the team, a lady was looking for a cat to live in their boiler room and help keep rodents down. We looked at the post code and realised it was very possible to be close to Sherry’s home territory. It transpires that Sherry was from the farm much further up from the road. Sherry had been around for a while and the farmer was going to catch her to neuter her. A neighbour in the nearby bungalow was also trying to socialise her. There was an aggressive unneutered tom cat (now snipped) who had attacked her previous kittens, so Sherry was seen moving the kittens away to hide them. We now know that it was to the shed where the lady who asked us for help had just discovered them. Yesterday, Sherry went ‘home’. Imagine the surprise when the farmer saw her and realised that she was the cat she had been hoping to catch before she disappeared. Sherry will be confined for a few weeks to ensure she knows that this is her home and where she will get food and shelter before she is given freedom to explore her territory again. It’s so sad that a kitten was lost before we got there, but Sherry will never have to go through that again, and her kittens, Shandy and Guinness, are safe in with a fosterer being socialised in readiness for a new home. Photos include Sherry’s temporary home while she gets her bearings again, and has time to associate her new family with being the ones who feed her. We hope this will discourage her from needing to head off across the fields, down to the road. We are relieved because we know that as this is Sherry’s home territory, she’s less likely to run off when she is given her freedom. We are also very pleased that she has gone back to the people who were genuinely caring about her and wanting to help before she disappeared with her kittens. Have the best adventures beautiful girl! 😻 #secondchanceforcatsnewales #neuteryourpets #communitycatsneedlovetoo #serendipity

A wonderful festive update from Charlie and Nika’s family, a year on from being adopted 😻 Their mum said they are the heart and soul of their family home and make them all laugh every day. Both have big personalities, but Nika is the boss 😉 We are delighted that both these young cats have an amazing home where they are loved as part of the family. This is what we wish for all the cats and kittens that we help. If you or anyone you know is looking for some feline company, we have other cats and kittens who deserve to have a forever home too. Please consider adopting a pair of our older kittens, or the cats who are overlooked. Each rescued cat is deserving of the chance of a forever home. They will enrich your life with their antics, and will give you wonderful treasured memories that will last for your lifetime. Next Christmas, this scene of two , much loved contented cats could be happening in your home. Please get in touch if you would like to adopt. #secondchanceforcatsnewales

Copper update 😻 Copper had his double entropíon surgery this week and isn’t too impressed with having to wear a cone! The good news is that he has been to our vets this morning for a check up and he is pleased with how he is healing. Cooper should be a lot more comfortable once it heals and will be so relieved for the cone to come off in about a week. Hopefully all the stitches will have dissolved by then . The first picture shows Cooper after surgery (in his cone) and the second picture shows how uncomfortable he must have been with his eyelids turning inwards and his eyelashes irritating his eyes. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to help him and also to everyone who shares our posts to raise awareness, or who comes to fundraising events that help us raise money. We may not be able to help every cat, as much as we desperately would want to, but the ones we can help, your support is making a big difference in these little lives. So a huge thank you from Copper 🧡🐾 #secondchanceforcatsnewales
