🇨🇦 Ottawa, ON • • Ottawa’s food scene has come a long way. Back when I moved to the Nations Capital in the early 2000’s any type of Asian food can only be found on Somerset St, the main street in Chinatown. The past few years, many Asian restaurants has opened across the city & it is so heartwarming to see the community supporting & embracing these restaurants. Take @tamiscafeottawa for example. It is a Filipino restaurant that opened in 2019. Filipino cuisine in Ottawa is unheard of so I was very excited to try them out. What I love most about this restaurant was the warm & friendly service we received. It was clear that the owner took great pride in their food & great care with the customers. The fresh lumpia was great (good flavours) & the pandan pancakes were tasty (and super filling). The have Filipino inspired baked good (all made in-house) showcased in their display counter. Unfortunately, we didn’t have room for dessert. They also do kamayan dinners (reservations recommended). I hope Tamis Café will continue to thrive & I look forward to dining there again. Thank-you for having us! 📸 Pancake Platter -2 pandan buttermilk pancakes with 3 Filipino sausages 📸 Fresh Lumpia - house made crepe stuffed with sautéed mixed vegetables, served with peanut sauce 🤤 Sooo nomz ——- 🏠 Tamis Café & Bistro 📍 374 Bank St (x-Gilmour St) 🍽 Filipino ⛱ Indoor dining; Patio available on weekends 💉 Proof of vaccination required 🥡 Takeout available • • • #sonomzeats #sonomzinottawa #sonomzinyow #ottawaeats #yoweats #613eats #dineottawa #ottawa #supportlocal #supportlocalbusiness #supportsmallbusiness #savehospitality #tamiscafe #pandanpancakes #filipinocuisine

#bestnine2020 Is it too late to post this?!! Hoping to wake up from hibernation to be out of lockdown, but nope. So let’s get this post out of the way. Without further ado, a summary of a dumpster year of 2020: • • 🇨🇦 Sakai Bar (Toronto) @sakaibarto - Kicked off 2020 here. Cosy & intimate setting with amazing food & a wide variety of sake. Look forward to going back this year. 🇨🇦 Say Mercy! (Vancouver) @saymercyyvr - Made it out to Vancouver before the pandemic hit. Serving a love story between Italian & American BBQ. They were rockstars during the pandemic giving back to their community through their staff meal initiative. 🇨🇦 Fruit Suite (Toronto) @fruitsuite - I used their service to deliver groceries to my home & was impressed by the quality of the produce. Unfortunately, they no longer deliver to residential homes which is a shame. 🇨🇦 Famiglia Baldassarre (Toronto) @famiglia_baldassarre - It’s no secret that their pasta is insanely good. But it’s seeing them give back to the community during this pandemic that have been the most impressive. 🇨🇦 Blackbird (Toronto) @bbirdco - Best. Sourdough. Bread. Save your time & throw away your sourdough starter. 🇨🇦 Sugo (Toronto) @sugotoronto - Like FB above, their pasta is insanely delicious but it’s their giving back to the community during this pandemic that makes them a winner. 🇨🇦 Di Liso’s Fine Meats (Toronto) @dilisosmeats - I haven’t stopped supporting this local butcher since the pandemic started. And I don’t plan on stopping. 🇨🇦 Roselle Desserts (Toronto) @roselle_to - Not only are their desserts sinfully delicious, they used their platform to raise monies for local charities during the pandemic. 🇨🇦 Beast Bodega (Toronto) @beastbodega - A neighbourhood restaurant known for their brunch turned themselves into a cute bodega selling local goods. That’s a wrap 2020. Please leave your destruction behind. Please continue supporting local small businesses. • • • #sonomzeats #topnine2020 #top9of2020 #foodielife #supportsmallbusiness #supportlocal #savehospitality
