It is such a joyous time having a new little bundle enter your life, but along with the joy, there can be some hurdles. With the cost of living hitting hard, balancing a budget is difficult, so we are seeing the requests for baby formula going through the roof. Babies are sometimes missing out on the nutrition that formula gives, due to budget constraints. If you, or someone you know, has formula that your child has outgrown, or you are in a position to purchase a tin, we are desperate for stage 1 & 2 (newborn to 1 year). Tins have to be sealed and have at least 3 months to expiry. NAN & Alula are the most requested brands, as bubs have already been started on these brands, and changing can cause upsets. Our Nurse put in an order for us, and when we received not only a capsule, but tiny clothes, bedding and nappies, we were so excited. We were finally able to bring him home safely. Never underestimate the impact of your donations! We received feedback today from a worker that had delivered a substantial order to a family that were in financial hardship. Even with the Dad taking on additional work they were in a financial bind. Their rent had increased, fuel costs escalating & children growing, so like many families at the moment, they were having to make some tough choices! The Mum was so emotional & happy when the order arrived that the worker made a special trip back to pass on their thanks. We would like to introduce *Amelia! We had the pleasure of being able to support Amelia, her 2 brothers and her Mum recently. They have all been relocated to a small town close to Bendigo and arrived with very little. One of the major obstacles for this family was car restraints as all 3 children still needed to use car seats. They have to travel in and out to Bendigo for appointments so safety was a huge concern. We were able to assist but our supply of newborn car seats can’t keep up with the referrals we are currently receiving! If your little one has moved to the next stage, or if there is a spare one in the grandparents car, you are willing to donate, please think of children like Amelia. Yesterday was the day of our “Ladies Spring Lunch” & what a spectacular day it was! Events like this do not just happen, it takes a lot of vision & hard work. There are so many people to thank, starting with our enthusiastic, energetic fundraising team that pulled it all together with flair & expertise. The event sponsor who showed us such generosity. The businesses who were sponsors of our silent auction & raffle that supported with so many amazing items. Our musician keeping guests entertained, the caterer who fed guests with an appetising lunch, our stylist & graphic designer that both added their touch of “spring” to the event. The MC who kept everyone on track & our guest speakers, who spoke from the heart and gave an insight into the roles they have and how Sunshine Bendigo supports them. As we prepare for yet another busy week, the memory of one little visitor we had last week, still makes us smile. Charlotte * and her mum came to pick up an order to assist with her little brother’s impending birth.
