If you don’t love the music, is it the right fit? If you aren’t interested in traveling to the place where it’s spoken, are you sure that’s the language for you? Please (please) PLEASE- fall in love with your language. It’ll make the learning process that much better. Remember, language learning is about the journey, not just the destination. This is something it took me YEARS to figure out. I knew I wanted to learn Spanish because it sounded beautiful, but it wasn’t until this year that I noticed that I needed to love to the language AND the language learning journey in order to actually get far. In the past four months, I’ve gotten farther than I ever did before because language learning isn’t like homework anymore, it’s a hobby. 💫 Last night, I asked #ChatGPT for 10 random sentences for me to translate out loud. I got 9/10 (with the exception of a few vocabulary words in one sentence). This was to work on speaking. Today, I wrote down those exact same sentences (from a screenshot), and then translated them AGAIN in Spanish. This was to work on writing. I used the exact same sentences as a form of reviewing, because I’m usually bad at reviewing, but I’m working on it 😉. Most of the episodes are only 4-6 minutes long and require a basic (A1) level of vocabulary. The speech gets more complex as the episodes increase, so I tend to relisten to the same episode a few times before moving on. I listen while driving, brushing my teeth, making a snack, etc. Only 4-6 minutes to learn new vocabulary? Sign me up!
