Another day and some more dyno runs to fine tune this little monster. Our client Joe swung in with his 2.3 TVS Roush equipped vehicle facing some drive ability issues. After a full bumper to bumper inspection we found incorrectly gapped plugs and a size-able vacuum leak causing the vehicle to fall flat on its face. After some proper plugs and fixing the vacuum leak we also wanted to ensure that she ran to her fullest potential. We upgraded the injectors and installed a proper iat sensor to see temps and then had the boys @lund_racing do their wizardry to make sure she ran to her fullest and most efficient potential. When I started this business I did so with one thing in mind. No compromise over everything else. Yes that means you’re going to see my price be a bit more, yes I’m going to change the bolts and nuts and screw and gaskets that someone else says is ok to reuse when I know it isn’t good to reuse. Sometimes things just don’t go as planned. That’s where you’ll find out what shop has your back and what shop doesn’t give two shits about you. Our client transported his gen 3 in for a basic CJ and intake install with Di delete and calibration work. What we have faced has been insanity at its finest form. Not only was he sold a damaged cobra jet and an intake that in my opinion is damn useless for you NA lovers! (not the one seen in the photo), but the amount of misguidance floating around is insane these days just to make a damn dollar. So we started with the basics. A brand new gen 2 CJ, and a proper intake that’s tested and vetted with proper data from @pmas.maf and a DI delete kit as well to eliminate those problematic DI injectors. After some calibration work with @lund_racing we found out that he’s also facing the infamous gen 3 intake phaser reversion issue which is making drivability garbage. So instead of tossing in the white towel we hunkered down figured a game plan and we’re going to make sure his baby is 100% before it even leaves the shop on top of saving him thousands in repair bills because that’s simply what we do here! Lets change it up a bit compared to our usual program. Your eyes are not deceiving you that is a 5.7L LS1 out of a 2002 Camaro SS Z/28 A4 to be exact. You may be asking what the hell are you doing with a LS Paul. Simple answer is expanding our horizons. The demand for LS platform vehicles is there and clients are trusting us to now work on their LS equipped vehicles. It is a true learning curve as odd as it sounds compared to a Coyote or Voodoo/Predator but it’s actually pretty fun. So what are we doing to this F body. Our PK stage 1 head and cam package to breath some new life into her. Trick flow cylinder heads with a @briantooleyracing stage 1 cam as well as new Mellings high pressure oil pump Assembly and JPC racing cam gear and crank sprocket and chain upgrade. Let’s talk fueling today! A sophisticated algorithm of injector size and fuel pump flow calculated to provide the proper amount of fuel to make power. The factory fuel systems are only good to a certain level of power on the Coyote application. If your running boost say to 11-12 lbs on 91/93 your factory system can handle it. But on E85 your factory system does not have enough power/flow to provide enough fuel properly and return the unused fuel back to the tank hence the factory system being a return less system. On E85 a 30% increase is needed in your fuel system to work effectively which it cannot offer even with a bap in my Opinion. Even voodoo/predator applications with their factory dual pump configuration can hold up to a certain amount of power before they too fall short on delivery. (Yes voodoo/predator vehicles can run E85 with good injectors and a bap only to a specific boost level) after that they do fall short as well. Ever wondered why we say boosted E85 cars need a fuel system mandatory? It’s not to sell you something you don’t need. It’s to ensure your vehicle lives a long life and runs properly. Our client Juan put his 10R80 Coyote to work after going from our stage 1+ to Stage 2+ power package and his 10R80 finally started to call it quits around 850 wheel. So we got him taken care of with our 10R80 transmission rebuild package. We paired a 258 billet Torque Convertor from @circledspecialties and a category 2 clutch kit from @suncoastperformance and he asked for a one piece driveshaft to be tossed in. I absolutely love this clutch kit for the 10R80 and highly recommend them. As we all know the 10R80 isn’t as stout as the 6R80 transmission and so you are going to start seeing the effects of added power around the 800+ mark.
