The 9 oz cotton knit has an open ended fiber which gives the shirt a much drier, vintage look and all t-shirt colors are custom and unique to Freenote. Perfecting the fit of a knit is surprisingly difficult. The fabric can move and stretch with limited seams to control it. Freenote spent years making adjustments until they landed on what we consider to be the perfect fit. This t-shirt has a great balance of being not too slim and not too boxy. A particularly beautiful example of Military style updated with a contemporary fit and a great looking slub cotton fabric. What we particularly like is the cut and length of this jacket - it sits just below waist level which elevates the look into something a little more elegant than the typical longer length associated with many Military jacket interpretations. It’s not often we see a Western shirt in an elegant stripe like this. We think the combination works really well. A faded colour stripe gives it an almost faded look, adding to its character. When we say these boots are hand made in Italy by artisans - we really do mean it. Made from brown calfskin with a rubber sole, the attention to detail in these boots is just exceptional. Jonathan the store owner says these are the most comfortable things he's ever worn on his feet. They're made by Claudio Marini, who has been making shoes his whole life, having learned as a child by watching his grandfather at work. Based on the old hill-town of Montegranaro in the region of Le Marche, two generations of Marini now work under the same roof to produce these shoes entirely by hand. Together they masterfully choose the best possible materials and supervise every phase of the production. The shoes are made using the finest Calf leather. All stitching and dyeing are all done by hand and also the process of antiquation is all handmade. We all make style choices - some are more adventurous, some we rarely end up wearing….but other pieces become part of us each day - things we just love wearing - and ultimately like the way they make us look and feel. So I wanted to start off by showing you what I’ve been wearing pretty much all winter. JEANS. Jeans are a very personal choice, and here my choice is the Portola jean from @freenotecloth - it’s the cut for me - slightly tapered, enough room in the bottom of the leg but not too much, space in the thighs and seat so that I feel comfortable without too relaxed a fit. This particular model is the Portola 17oz Indigo. In the end we all become like Goldilocks when we’re selecting jeans. They’ve got to be juuuuust right. SWEATER - this GRP Crewneck has been my go-to top all winter. Just love the colour and cut, and it keeps my warm - job done. JACKET - this is the Anatole Jacket in Charcoal HBT from @fleursdebagne - I just love this jacket so much - for me it kind of embodies the concept of the store as I see it - ‘rugged elegance’. Classic styles with a modern approach. Oh and let’s not forget my faithful red beanie that protects my head from the sky falling on it as Asterix used to say. The Foundation Pant project started when we discovered some deadstock military chino material and decided to reverse engineer it with 100% organic cotton. We chose a balanced weight (8-oz.) that feels great all year round, and opted for a tight weave using mercerized yarns, giving The Foundation Pant a smooth hand feel and improved durability. Because it’s been garment dyed and washed, it has the character of a well-loved vintage piece, and it’ll continue to pick up a ton of nuance with wear. Cool herringbone accents at the waistband and the pockets serve as a nod to the style’s military origins. The Max 3 Summer Jacket in Linen is a wonderful lightweight variation on the incredibly popular Max 3 Jackets we also sell in winter. Made from 100% Linen the jacket has an incredible texture to it - almost a patina, that looks incredible onset against the brown Corozo buttons. It is of course also very breathable and comfortable to wear in the summer months. Compared to the Summer Cotton version, the Linen version sits a little more loosely on the body - not in fit, but in the way it falls. The fabric is linen so it doesn’t stretch, but it’s less structured than the tight-weave cotton version. Perhaps a tiny bit more slim in the sleeves and shoulders, and slightly shorter in length - but pretty much the same style and fit as the cotton version. The Degrasse are probably our most popular pair of trouser so far, now also in cream and khaki for a more summery look.
