On April 28th, I joined nearly 4,000 others, in the annual 9/11 Memorial and Museum 5K run/walk to remember the lives lost; honor the heroes who risked their own lives and celebrate their legacies of service. MY NEW FIND! I have been to Central Park so many times but didn’t even know about the Conservatory Gardens! ( located on the East Side of Central Park ~ East 104st , just in from 5th Avenue.). There are three sections each in different styles The images here show the south garden designed in the style of an English perennial garden. While there we were told there were over 2000 Tulip bulbs planted here for this spectacular spring display of colour. SWIPE to see the BTS VIDEO. Tip : We were there -~9:30am on a Saturday and it was fairly quiet . Not too many people yet but also not alone which is a good thing too safety wise. ( FYI The north garden right beside it has also just reopened a few days earlier after being closed for a year while being restored . That garden has just as many if not more tulip bulbs planted in a pattern ( French style). . BNW vs COLOR. It is said that with black and white the absence of colour removes distractions. It shifts the viewer’s focus to emotions, movement, and textures and allows the viewer to experience the subject in an entirely different way. What do you think ? 1. ‘ The Best of New York ‘. ‘ Woosh Hour’. How many times have you walked by a place and thought: I need to come back at night with a tripod, then procrastinate and it doesn’t happen? For me it’s the Lincoln Centre. I’ve walked passed it so many times this last year on my way elsewhere and finally last week I did it! I took my tripod, stood across the street and took some long exposures. The lit stairs already provided white horizontal lines hence I felt I needed an exposure time that would also get some of the moving vehicles in frame ( vs just the light trails ). An Autumn’s Evening in Central Park. This was yesterday - sunset ⌚️ 4:50pm 📍 near the Loeb Boatbouse. I was hoping for more sunset colours but settled for just the fall leaf colours still hanging on . I decided to shoot a long exposure using a 6 stop neutral density filters for a silky smooth sky, clouds and water. In the meantime about this frame - I had wanted to catch the sun rays shining through these grand arched windows but I suspect I arrived a little too late. Nonetheless the light was still pretty good and something I could work with. I ended up positioning my camera between the cut out patterns within the railing ( to help frame the shot) and waited for the right moment‘ to snap this frame. With the light backlighting the subject a silhouette provides a nice contrast on the light reflected floors. ✅ Exciting News!
