I remember sitting in the hospital the 2nd night after the boys were born, crying my eyes out, wondering how I was ever going to do it. Prior to getting pregnant I knew I wanted to breastfeed. When I found out I was having twins, I knew it would be a lot more challenging but it could be done. I had a tough time getting the boys to latch while in the hospital. The lactation consultant in the hospital told me I would probably never be able to breastfeed them at the same time. Not exactly something you should say to someone who is newly postpartum 😬 Thankfully I had some great nurses who would help me! I had also reached out to @breastfeed_oc prior to the boys being born to have a prenatal consultation. At that time she told me it would be tough to tandem feed, but it could definitely be done. . When I got home from the hospital, I couldn’t get either of the boys to latch on my own and cried more. Luckily @breastfeed_oc was able to do an in-home visit the next day to help me. . Every stage of feeding has had its challenges - from having to supplement with formula from the beginning, learning how to tandem breastfeed, tandem bottlefeed and then tandem bottlefeed while pumping. Here we are almost 11 months later, and they are feeding themselves. . I feel like the first few months are a blur. It was purely survival mode, and still is to some extent. But todays survival mode is nothing compared to the sleep deprivation while figuring out how to take care of 2 newborns. .
