I just finished my talk/ presentation at the University of Hyogo, Monsters Re-Visited: The Fantastic Creatures of Japan international symposium. I am very honored to have had the opportunity to share my collection of yokai exhibitions there. This exhibition and symposium could not have been possible without the enthusiastic support of professor Carmen Tamas and the University of Hyogo, for which I am deeply grateful. I am sorry that I could not make it there in person this year, but very glad they allowed me to be there virtually. 2023年度 GLEP ベトナム研修2023.9.7～9.14 9/7【研修初日】 お昼にハノイに到着 9/8 【2日目】 今日は朝からバスでハノイの旧市街を回りました。ガイドさんからベトナムの文化や歴史についても詳しく教えていただきました。 9/9【３日目】 今日は午後から日越大学でベトナム人学生と交流をしました！😊 夜は、ベトナム人学生と一緒にイギリスのお祭りを見に行きました。ハノイの名物のバインミーを食べながらホアンキエム湖の周りを散策しました。 9/10 【4日目】 今日は午前中にベトナムの民族衣装である「アオザイ」を着ました。皆それぞれが好きな色と柄のアオザイを身にまとい、ハノイの街中を散策しました。お昼はベトナム人学生と一緒に「Nem Nướng(ネム ヌオン)」というベトナム料理を食べました。キュウリやパクチー、サワーマンゴーをお肉と一緒に巻いて食べる料理でとても美味しかったです。 9/11 【５日目】 今日は午後から日越大学の講義「現代日本文化」の一部として、最新の日本文化について日本語と英語でそれぞれ発表しました。 初めは緊張しましたが、多くのベトナム人学生がにこやかに発表を聞いてくれて、とても良い経験になりました。 9/12 【6日目】 ベトナム初の世界自然遺産ハロン湾を訪れました。 その後、「天宮の洞窟」を意味するティエンクン鍾乳洞を訪れ、幻想的な景色を楽しみました。 9/13 【7日目】 JICAのベトナム事務所と、兵庫県に本社を置く音響機器とセキュリティ機器のメーカーであるTOA Electronics Vietnamを訪問しました。 #zimbabwe #universityofhyogo #universityofzimbabwe #facultyofmedicineandhealthsciences #兵庫県立大学 #ジンバブエ

研修後半 【研修６日目】 リンガ村の各ホームスティ先でフィールドワークを行いました。 【７日目】 午後からは農村でフィールドワークを行います。絵を描くホスト先では、井戸の底から取り出した土壌を砕いて粉末状にし、水に溶かして絵の具として使用していました。 【8日目】 商店街、小学校、教会を訪れました。商店街では、地域の人々が積極的に話しかけてくれました。教会は立派なものから草や木で作られた簡素なものまで、さまざまな種類がありました。 【9日目】 ジンバブエでは、多くの日本車が見られました。日本の中古車は手頃な価格なので、ジンバブエでも広く流通しているようです。 【10日目】 ハラレの小学校で、「タリロ」という女性の教育を応援する団体の伝統的なパフォーマンスを見たり、マリンバやオショなどの演奏を楽しんだりしました。 【11日目】 ハラレを出発し、まずは乗継地のカタールに向かいました。空港ではシコクビエのサザ、モツ肉、焼き魚、チャーハンを食べました。 【12日目】 カタール空港での乗り継ぎ時間、約8時間を利用して、10日間のジンバブエ研修のプレゼン資料作成に追われました。クアラルンプールに帰着してみると、周囲で話されるショナ語（ジンバブエの公用語）の音が聞こえなくなり、寂しさが込み上げてきました。 【13日目】 日本に戻ってきて、入国審査もスムーズでした。ジンバブエでの研修は、長く感じる一方で、あっという間に終わってしまいました。 #zimbabwe #universityofhyogo #universityofzimbabwe #facultyofmedicineandhealthsciences #兵庫県立大学 #ジンバブエ

In a few hours the first of three very large and very different solo exhibitions of mine will open in Japan (Kobe, Osaka, and at the University of Hyogo). I spend the year working continuously getting ready for 1 or 2 very large exhibitions, like the ones opening soon. It is always great to get to see people enjoying the pieces I create and to speak with the many familiar faces that return each year. Regrettably, due to some personal issues, I will not be able to travel there this year. (I will be able to virtually speak at the symposium based off my work at the University of Hyogo). I truly appreciate all the gifts, flowers, and presents that are often bestowed upon me at my openings. To all of you who have enrolled in the University of Hyogo, congratulations!!🎉 The entrance ceremony was held on 5 April at the Kobe International House in Sannomiya, Kobe, Hyogo. Some 1,800 students, including 50 GBC students, dressed in brand new suits and started their student lives🌸 At the entrance ceremony, the Governor of Hyogo Prefecture and the President of the University of Hyogo, etc. congratulated the new students. On March 4, 2024 A tour of companies in Himeji was organised for GBC international students. They visited the following two manufacturing companies and were given a tour of the product work process, research and inspection departments, etc., giving them a realistic experience. Hayakawa Densen Kogyo Co, Ltd., NICHIRIN Co. Ltd They were also able to hear from foreign employees working at the companies, so they were able to get some idea of what it is like to work in Japan. One participant commented: 'It was good to know how the manufacturing process in making the specific product such as Hose. It is the first time I saw robot work automatically and it was amazing.
