Yamaha told to develop a V4 engine as “pull out of MotoGP” worry is addressed. “Those days are gone. The game has changed. Yamaha need to up their game and follow suit." Yamaha have been advised that the development of a V4 engine will hasten their progress, which will hopefully keep them in MotoGP long-term. The decline of the Japanese manufacturer, for so long a MotoGP powerhouse, has been stark. And although the building blocks are in place for their improvement, they have been warned that progress will not be noticeable until at least 2025. Michael Laverty was asked on TNT Sports if Yamaha could follow Suzuki out of the exit door of the championship. “It is still a worry, down the line,” he said. “We have three more years of the current rules. 2027 sees a complete change. “They are in talks now - remove lowering devices, launch devices, how to curb aero? “Once the genie is out of the bottle with aero, it’s hard to put a full stop on it. But they want to bring control back into the riders’ hands. “If the factories know that there is a clear path, and a change in 2027, there is light at the end of the tunnel. “They can put another 10-year plan together. “I know we lost Suzuki but I don’t see lightning striking twice. “I think we may have a BMW introduction in 2027. The acquisition by Liberty Media will go from strength to strength.” This season, Yamaha have sealed a major coup by signing Fabio Quartararo to a long-term deal, making him the highest-paid rider in MotoGP. Max Bartolini is a high-profile engineer recruited from Ducati, while the new concessions rules give Yamaha and Honda a shot at speeding up their recovery. Yamaha also want to add a satellite team giving them an extra presence on the 2025 grid. “There is potential with LCR,” Laverty said “The VR46 link is strong with Valentino Rossi but the Ducati seems to work for that team, as a whole. PART1 ⬇️
Fabio Quartararo: –I believe that Marc Márquez’s departure from Honda to Ducati has awakened many people at Yamaha. They hired many new engineers, and many things are happening in Italy and not in Japan. The speed at which parts can be changed has completely transformed. I think it was very interesting for me to continue with Yamaha.
Fabio Quartararo: I expected worse. My speed wasn’t good, but the tire wear wasn’t too bad. Maybe we could have got a slightly better position, but I think this weekend was spent trying a lot of things and we mainly focused on improving the bike. #AmericasGP 🇺🇸

The newly renewed Fabio Quartararo was the most successful rider on a Japanese bike, scoring 3 points on the Yamaha at the full length race :P12 at #AmerciasGP Let that sink in a bit.

I'm posting this as a blanket response to you all. Where on earth did I say Fabio Quartararo was in the wrong for taking the €12m a year from Yamaha? I merely said it was not for sporting reasons. I never said it was a good thing OR a bad thing. As a lot of you have asked, my opinion is simple. He's going to make €24m from Yamaha as a base salary by the end of 2026. He will still be 27 years old at the end of this. He'll then have the luxury or not having to even look at a wage offer from a team and can actually move on sporting reasons. HOWEVER, this does show the mindset of Quartararo in my opinion. I've said for some time he is mentally weaker than a lot of the other riders, and this doesn't help that impression. If Aprilia was seriously on the table, €4m a year is still a LOT of money, and he'd have whats arguably the second best bike this year. Someone with REAL championship aspirations would have taken Aprilia, it's that simple. But Fabio's way is not incorrect either. Security for your future is not anything to be sniffed at.
🚨 BREAKING: Liberty Media announces acquisition of MotoGP™ Liberty Media will acquire approximately 86% of Dorna, with Dorna management retaining approximately 14% of their equity in the business. This new agreement will see Dorna Sports S.L., the exclusive commercial and television rights holder of MotoGP™, remain an independently run company attributed to Liberty Media’s Formula One Group tracking stock.

Fabio Quartarao apparently in talks with Aprilia for 2025 Fabio Quartararo pretty much demanded a competitive bike for 2024 or he will leave Yamaha. This seems to be the case for 2025, as El Diablo could join Aprilia. Fabio Quartararo's contract expires at the end of the 2024 Season which could see El Diablo leave Yamaha. His new venture could be Aprilia. Allegedly Fabio Quartararo and Aprlia CEO, Massimo Rivola have started negotiating. As Motorcycle Sports report. The report suggests that Aprilia may keep veteran Aleix Espargaro for one more year and drop Maverick Vinales in favour of El Diablo. If this will eventually happen remains to be seen. Since Rivola in the past did confirm that his "dream" choice would be the Italian Enea Bastainini that is also expected to lose his factory Ducati seat for 2025.

With the MotoGP season about to kick off, the Yamaha Factory Team has announced they will be trying something new in a desperate attempt to make up for the fact that the other teams’ bikes have a higher top speed in reverse. “I know it’s a little last minute, but we’ve made approximately zero improvements to the top speed of our bike and Fabio is about to GTFO,” said Massimo Meregalli, team director. “Fortunately, our guy in charge of improving performance was spending all day playing video games and had a great idea… third-person racing!” The Yamaha team hopes to use an Insta 360 to get a good, third-person view of Fabio Quartararo and then relay that footage live to an Apple Vision Pro strapped to the front of Fabio’s visor. “I mean racing in the video game is much easier in third person, so we might as well give it a whirl,” said Fabio. “Granted, my career mode in MotoGP 24 is with Ducati, so I’ll have to get used to my character wearing blue.” While this plan may seem perfect, it does have a small flaw. “There’s a little lag relaying the camera footage to the Apple Vision. Luckily, we’ve spent the last few years lagging behind the competition, so we should feel right at home.” . . . #motogp #fabioquartararo #fabioquartararo20🇫🇷 #yamahafactoryteam #motoracing #trackday #qatargrandprix #racesim #bikelife #motonews #tpo #thepreviousowners
1st day Losail test "The problem yesterday is the same one we had before and concerns the grip, which is truly terrible. The bike is aggressive, when you put new tires on things don't change. yesterday with new mediums, I did a lap only two tenths faster than the one I did with tires that had eleven laps. This is unacceptable, we have to find a way to make the tires work in those two laps to improve the time attack, because we are really far away now." Fabio Quartararo
Interestingly too, Fabio Quartararo set the fastest top speed today at Sepang. Means nothing of course but the fact a Yamaha tops the chart is promising. Then again, they were only 2kph off the top speed last year and we all know how that ended up for them. I'll wait for Qatar speed traps I think..
