Have you taken your child (or children) to a Michelin restaurant?

We try to take Gates to one every couple of years. Last month was her second time visiting the same Michelin star restaurant: Sons and Daughters. (The other was Luce, first when it was spearheaded by Domenic Crenn and next by her successor.)

Until Gates was five we skipped restaurants that only offered a tasting menu format. (We’re realistic about a young child’s ability to sit still for an extended period of time.) We also always choose the first seating. (A child’s ability to focus between 5 and 7pm is much greater than between 7 and 9pm.) AND this is MOST important: we talk to the host/hostess BEFORE we make our reservation. We ask about the experience and for their opinion as to whether it’s a good fit for a young foodie.
