Here is the finished Kookie. The gumleaves won out !! I’ve had that old song ringing in my ears on repeat... “ Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree eeee... “ whilst I’ve been painting.
I made sure the leaves were quite colourful and added some white gumblossoms and a native bee buzzing around too.
I bought in the tones of the aqua in his wing feathers into the shadowed gumleaves as well, just to tie the whole painting together. #naturalhistoryart
