BIEN is an artist born in 1993 in Tokyo, expressing his creativity by drawing. He got influenced by and takes over the several kinds of expressional styles of street culture, animation and figure and creates abstract paintings and installations. He tries to deconstruct and reconstruct symbolic meanings. “In Shima (island) floating in Ama (sea) surrounding all around, Ma (in-between) of time and space is said to appear symbolically.
The Aji Island is a certainly attractive island having a different time span from the main island and letting us feel the Ma.
This development center located in the center of the street, lining in the island as the center point of Ma, also functions as a shelter as the island’s fort.
I have been drawing the boundary of recognition by deconstructing characters, letters and symbols, but this time I think about what Ma is, by drawing the whole wall using the island and Ma that exists there as a motif and perceiving the development center as a interchange of the main island and this island.”
