Before this scripture, in Matthew 6:6 it says, "But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

Sometimes people will pray a prayer that sounds nice, and makes you feel good, but that doesn't mean that it's a prayer that pushes through to the Heavens and moves the Lord's heart. Words are just words when they are said with the wrong motive, said with an empty heart and with no urgency at all.

Here in Matthew, Jesus tells us to pray with authority, pray like we mean business. Get in agreement with the Holy Spirit, and then you'll be in agreement with the Lord. And I promise you that, will move mountains. That will move God's heart to shift the atmosphere and situation around for your good. He's not an idol, a lifeless statue - Jesus is a person, and He has feelings. A statue can't move mountains for your benefit, nor can it hear you.
