🇺🇸 Never forget 🇺🇸
I was apart of something very special tonight. It was first time I’ve done a memorial stair climb on 9/11 and it was an incredible atmosphere with hundreds of folks all there with one purpose, to never forget what happened on 9/11/01. Each person got to choose a fallen First Responder and climb for THEM. I climbed for Jeffery Olsen of FDNY House 10...he was 31 years old.
This is a bit of a side story but I was watching a documentary tonight when I got home and it was actually about 10 House, and to hear the surviving firefighters/family members talk about the brothers from their house who didn’t make it out of the towers...man it hit me when I realized that Jeffery was one of the guys that they were talking about in this doc. His wife was one of the widows they interviewed in the doc and hearing about him as a person and the hero he is really hit me in the feels because hearing her story of that day is very very powerful. Maybe it’s just me but I feel like it was fate that I picked him. That out of all 300+ people I could have chose to climb for, the one I chose just happened one of the main features in the doc that I just happen to turn on when I get home. Again, maybe it’s just me but i thought that was a pretty crazy coincidence. And ya know what I’d be lying if I said it didn’t get me a little choked up when the whole spectrum of the day sinks in while I watched that doc. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 #NeverForget #remembereveryday #10house #JefferyOlsen
