Fushimi Inari Taisha is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates behind the main buildings. The torii gates have been donated by individuals and companies. The names of the donators can be found on the back of each gate. The larger the gate, the larger the donation. This shrine is also the head shrine for the Shinto god Inari (God of Rice).
