侍 Samurai Sundays 🏮 Este domingo Samurái va dedicado al Samurái Ishida Mitsunari ( 1559 – 6 de noviembre de 1600). Conoció a Toyotomi Hideyoshi, que en ese entonces era daimyō de Nagahama y estuvo presente en los ataques a castillos como el Castillo Tottori y el Castillo Takamatsu. Toyotomi es considerado uno de los grandes unificadores del Japón feudal el cual sentó las bases del futuro Shogunato Tokugawa. 🏯 Cuando Hideyoshi alcanzó un gran poder político en el país, Mitsunari fue reconocido como un talentoso administrador financiero debido a sus conocimientos y su habilidad en los cálculos. I think it doesn’t matter what time of the day you go in the first part of the mountain it is always full of people. For those that adventure a bit higher up and decide to do the full hike to the peak you might be able to have a few spots only to yourself. Japan Trip - The Kansai Region version Only had 3 days to kinda explore this beautiful region of Japan so I was on the run 🏃. The most exciting part was having the chance to wear the Yukata/Kimono in Kyoto - LOVE IT!!! (minus the shoes part though cuz it was painful walking on them 😅😅😅). Hiking through thousands of Torii gates all the way to the top at Fushimi Inari was an amazing experience as well. Ohhhh, and the deers of Nara - SO CUTEEEE ❤️❤️. And the takoyaki and ramen in Osaka were 🤤🤤. Bentenjima This is such a special spot and not well known to tourists. When I visited, I’m fairly certain everyone were locals. How do I know? So at sunset, we’d all crowd around the spot where you’d catch the sun inside the torii gate. But because the sun moves as it sets, you’d have to constantly reposition yourself to place the sun back in the torii gate. I knew everyone were locals because Japanese people are considerate and do not inconvenience other people. No one would step in front of others’ shots, no shoving through the crowd, even getting outta the way after their shot. Ancora qualche minuto e avrei lasciato un Picasso sul pavimento dell’aereo. Passati i controlli di frontiera, inizio ad ammirare per la prima volta questo nuovo, strano paese. I dipendenti dell’aeroporto camminano con delle campanelle legate alla cintura, in modo da non dover annunciare il loro passaggio in mezzo alla folla di viaggiatori. Irene ci mostra il suo quaderno dei timbri Eki; l’inchiostro sulla pagina è ancora fresco. Subito chiediamo dov’è che si trova il mitico primo timbro. Quanta ingenuità, ancora non sapevo che quel semplice gesto si sarebbe rivelato una condanna per il resto del viaggio. Prima di lasciare l’aeroporto, il coordinatore Filippo ci fa installare sul telefono la travel card per accedere ai mezzi. In un momento che mi ha ricordato la prima volta che ho giocato a Pokémon, ho dovuto scegliere il mio starter fra Suica, Icoca e Pasmo. Alla fine, come per il videogioco, ho scelto lo starter azzurro (basato) e il pinguino ganzo di Icoca è diventato lo sfondo del resto del mio viaggio. Eccomi quindi, come dicevo, di fronte al primo di innumerevoli Torii che incontrerò in questo viaggio. I Torii sono dei cancelli; indicano il confine fra il mondano e il Sacro. Quando li si attraversa, bisogna fare un inchino. Ce ne sono di legno, di pietra, di rossi; alcuni antichissimi e altri nuovi di zecca. Non sai mai se dietro l’angolo troverai un altro Torii; l’unica cosa che sai è che quando ne vedi uno, sei in prossimità del sacro. 🍵🌸 japanese tea ceremony. It is a ceremonial way of preparing and drinking green tea typically in a traditional tearoom with tatami floor. A full, formal tea ceremony is a multi-hour event that starts with a kaiseki course meal, is followed by a bowl of thick tea and ends with a bowl of thin tea. However, we only enjoyed a bowl of thin tea. The main equipment includes the tea whisk (chasen), tea container for the powdered green tea (natsume), tea scoop (chashaku), tea bowl, and the kettle and brazier. Steps: - A Japanese sweet is served before tea and is supposed to be eaten before the tea is drunk, and we enjoyed a Sakura mochi wrapped in a cherry blossom leaf. - I prepared the tea by putting two small scoops of tea in my bowl, then water and I used the whisk in the fastest way I could. - I then placed the tea bowl onto the tatami mat in front of me, with its front facing me. Then I picked it up with my right hand and placed it on my left palm. With my right hand, I turned it clockwise by around 90 degrees so that its front was not facing me anymore. I drank the tea in a few sips, placed it back onto the tatami, bowed and expressed gratitude after receiving and finishing my tea. Hakone Takashisei Inari Daigongen Shrine 🦊⛩️ Kitsune (foxes) are often thought to be associated with the deity Inari, one of the major holy spirits in Japan’s Shintō religion. Inari is primarily known as the protector god of rice cultivation and is said to further prosperity and therefore is worshiped by merchants and farmers. In depictions the god is often flanked by servant foxes, with more than 30,000 foxes appearing in religious shrines around Japan. Some shrines can contain hundreds of foxes, often in seated positions. As the Shintō religion grew in popularity, so did the spiritual role and the accompanying magical power of these foxes. The kitsune from this period are holy messengers sent by Inari, emissaries between the earthly and celestial spheres. They deliver news and advice to pious humans. Lake Ashi The symbol of Hakone, Lake Ashi was formed some 3,000 years ago when an eruption of Mt. Kami, the central peak of the Hakone volcano, caused flows of lava and volcanic rock to block the Haya River. Combined with rainfall from above and groundwater seeping up from below, the captive waters of the river formed a lake that is now up to 43.5 meters deep and 19 kilometers in circumference. Thanks to its volcanic springs, Lake Ashi never freezes over in winter. Legend of Mangan and the Dragon Lake Ashi plays a significant part in local legends. The best-known is the story of Mangan Shonin, the priest credited as the founder of Hakone Shrine. In 757 CE, during his studies at nearby Mt. Koma, Mangan had a vision in which he was told to build a sanctuary by the lake. At the time, however, Lake Ashi was terrorized by a fearsome dragon, and villagers would sacrifice local girls by the shore to placate the creature. Undeterred by the dragon’s wrath, Mangan sat on a stone slab he had placed in the water and prayed for three days and three nights. The dragon finally gave up, even apologizing for its actions. But Mangan remained unsatisfied, and tied his adversary to one of the sakasasugi—the cryptomeria trees that a landslide had swept into the water upright, roots and all, and were stuck to the bottom of the lake. The repentant dragon transformed into Kuzuryu, a nine-headed dragon god, pledging to be the protector of the land as long as the inhabitants would honor him with an annual prayer. Today, the sakasasugi remain in the lake, their trunks visible deep below the surface on very clear days, while the place where Mangan is said to have sat in the water praying is marked by a red torii gate, just off the shore near Kuzuryu Shrine.
