In 1980, cartoonist Masuzo Furukawa opened a manga shop in Nakano. Over the years, the Nakano Broadway complex has turned into a paradise for otaku, where you can find absolutely everything: from used manga, figurines and gadgets to the original celluloid cells from anime. Furukawa store has grown to the size of the chain and now is known as Mandarake - the largest store in Japan with used manga and gadgets. As Mandarake's slogan says, they are "Rulers of Time".
