Animal forensics - 2 hours under the shed awning tonight with a toothbrush and a big bowl until my fingers were too cold to deal with otter metatarsals and phalanges. Cleaning each bone and sorting them out, having exhumed them from the vegetable patch last summer. I can confirm that the otter died from a blunt force injury to the head crushing the back of the skull. Also evidence of catastrophic bilateral breaks across the pelvis and 6 fractured ribs, all consistent with an impact with a vehicle. This is no surprise as I found said otter dead on the roadside on the B151.
