#WahiPanaWednesday ~ Located on the summit of Nānāhoa Hill in Pālāʻau State Park is Kaule o Nānāhoa or Phallic Rock. Moʻolelo tells us of the story of Nānāhoa, the male fertility god, who lived in the area. Nānāhoa’s wife, Kawahuna, caught him admiring a young girl one day. Kawahuna became upset, pulled the young girl’s hair, and was struck by Nānāhoa. Kawahuna fell down the cliff, and both Kawahuna and Nānāhoa were turned into stone. Many infertile women visited Kaule o Nānāhoa to pray in hopes of conceiving a child.
