Caught this on @mysouthernbrand story yesterday and had to save ‘em bc it’s TRUE. And so many of US are aiding in bribing gentrification to our communities’ front door. Don’t get me wrong, all development isn’t bad, by no means bc development means dollars which can equate to opportunities, housing, community infrastructure and the like. BUT what a lot of your favorite Black RE investors/brokers/realtors do is the exact opposite of buying back the block/advertising for growth is for the greater good. And, of course the need for good urban planning is always left out of these conversations/discussions so it makes our jobs event HARDER and less significant in what we’re tryna do to impact policy. 🛑 Stop selling dreams of community development while displacing the same community you claim to be empowering..
