My project today was to make dog treats.
But they couldn't be just any treats. ✅ They had to have very few ingredients. Ingredients that hopefully will not react with his sensitivity tummy.
✅ They had to meet his approval. 🤣 Seriously, this dog wont even eat his food half the time so it needs to be something he likes so I'm not wasting food.
✅ And, if worst case scenario, he refuses to eat them, maybe be tasty so a human could eat them too. (Now isn't a good time to waste ingredients. )
So, I eventually came up with my own recipe.
Cheese Treats
1cup rolled oats, processed to flour
1 cup white whole what flour
1 bag shredded cheddar
1 egg
1 pinch of salt
1/2 tsp nutritional yeast **
Enough water to make a dough
Preheat over to 350 degrees.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Mix ingredients together.
Place dough between 2 sheets of plastic wrap.
Roll out to about 1/8" thick.
Use a cookie cutter or pizza wheel to make your doggie treats.
Bake 15-20 minutes. Check at 15!
Use treats as treats for your pup
And you too. **Nutritional yeast is generally safe for dogs in small amounts and contains lots of B vitamins. However, some dogs have an allergy to yeast so check with your vet before using yeast.
