When I was 15 and visited my cousin, he showed me an album cover that I was immediately intrigued by. It showed a dude with heavy white makeup, the blackest eyeliner and eyeshadow and really red lips. His black hair looked like cotton candy. Neither my cousin nor I knew about the goth or alternative culture, let alone were part of it.
When The Cure's music became a part of my everyday life a few years later, I realised that I listened to their music a few years before that.
But the first song I consciously listened to was Plainsong - and I fell in love! Not only with Disintegration, but later with most of their albums and their aesthetic.
But Disintegration will always be my favourite!
