On the ninth day of Christmas, my Doula was there for me with a list of parenting and breastfeeding support groups, with eight yummy meals, seven months of pregnancy, with six weeks of postnatal support, by answering my 5am WhatsApp message, four weeks on call, three antenatal sessions, two listening ears and a complete trust in my capability.
Doulas are brilliant signposters and often know local groups and support services, for example this could be local breastfeeding support groups, other drop in parenting groups (I run one myself), to other services such as osteopaths, physiotherapists, reflexologists, as well as other local doulas who provide placenta encapsulation, postnatal massage, closing the bones, birth listening services and the 3 step rewind therapy. So when you hire a Doula you also have instant access to the local knowledge that comes with them as well as a host of potential pregnancy, birth and postnatal education and wisdom.
I have been told in the past rather than asking Google for the answer to a local service provider or evidence based information relating pregnancy, birth, babies, breastfeeding they have just sent me a message as 'Tara' will know 😉
