Did you know that Galileo Galilei was from Pisa? That’s right: Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa on February 15, 1564, attended the Pisan University and in Pisa, more precisely from the famous Leaning Tower, he made his first astronomical observations by throwing weights in an experiment (the fall of the heavy bodies) that found a solution a century later with Isaac Newton. 🌌🔭 In Via Giuseppe Giusti 24-26, in the historic center near the Court and the Teatro Verdi, there is in fact the birthplace of Galileo. The building is the historic home of the Ammannati family (mother of Galileo), a pink house where an epigraph is now affixed. For years, however, it was believed that the house where the Pisan genius was born was Casa Bocca, located at the corner of Borgo Stretto and Via de 'Mercanti, where today there is a plaque placed in 1942 on the occasion of the third centenary of Galileo’s death, which took place in the city of Arcetri. 🏛️🎓

Proprio così: Galileo Galilei nacque a Pisa il 15 febbraio 1564, frequentò l’Ateneo pisano e proprio a Pisa, più precisamente dalla famosa Torre pendente, fece le sue prime osservazioni astronomiche gettando pesi in un esperimento (la caduta dei gravi) che trovò soluzione un secolo più tardi con Isaac Newton. 🌌🔭
In Via Giuseppe Giusti 24-26, in pieno centro storico vicino al Tribunale e al Teatro Verdi c’è infatti la casa natale di Galileo L’edificio è la storica abitazione della famiglia Ammannati (madre di Galileo), una casa di color rosa dove oggi è affissa un’epigrafe. Per anni tuttavia si è ritenuto che la casa in cui nacque il genio pisano fosse Casa Bocca, situata all’angolo tra Borgo Stretto e Via de’ Mercanti, dove oggi si trova una targa apposta nel 1942 in occasione del terzo centenario della morte di Galileo, avvenuta nella città di Arcetri.
