On a site dating back to the Middle Ages, the Palace of Westminster (now commonly referred to as the Houses of Parliament) has had several iterations before being classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987.
Fire has destroyed (most of) the complex several times across the centuries, most recently in WWII, when the Commons chamber was burned out during one of the air raids.
It was restored/rebuilt in the 1950s.
It is now a quintessential London landmark.
