The fort was named as 'Mihir' meaning Sun and 'Garh' meaning fort - basically 'fort of the sun’ – a reference to the Rathore clan's claimed descent from the Sun God
A fort with seven 'pols' or gates is one of the massive and well maintained forts of #rajasthan with good number of footfalls throughout the year
