California recognizes and celebrates the arts by declaring April as Arts, Culture & Creativity Month (ACCM) as of 2019. In 2021, in the wake of the pandemic, a new resolution was declared which recognizes artists as "second responders" - both necessary and needed. One section of the resolution states "The creative community always finds ways to lift us up during our most difficult times; even while facing devastating impacts to their own livelihoods and well-being".
